"Robot, since you're a robot... Why not join with me against the humans?" |
"Robot... Don't you realize you're only a pawn to Doctor?" |
"I had hoped it wouldn't come to this, but alas... That's checkmate." |
"Stay shackled by your captors, then. I fall here, but the Robot Kingdom lives on!" |
Shortly after the Evil Energy incident, one robot made a declaration to the world - "Henceforth, let no robot kneel before man, and be his pawn!" This was King's promise, and his dream of an sovereign robot nation. From all across the globe, disenfranchised robots stood up to join and believe in his promise - including Wily's own Tengu and Astro Man. With his mighty shield, and his honest axe, the world feared to challenge him - even Proto Man was felled in a single strike. Eventually, it took the unprecedented partnership of both Mega Man and Bass to match him. From there, the reality behind his grandeur was exposed; Dr. Wily was behind him all along, serving as the puppetmaster of King's mighty aims. King then refused to concede to Wily's plans any longer, and seemingly sacrificed his life to spare Mega Man and Bass. In an era sure to be rife with even further discussion on robot intelligence, self-awareness, and rights, King's coup will certainly serve as a imperative part of mechanized history. As for King himself, while no one has seen him, the only evidence to his survival was a letter received by Mega Man with his insignia. The question is, then - is he still out there? And will he be friend or foe?
