The Chordroids now fire even more Lance Shots at Proteus, making them intangible for the brief distance required to bypass the shield. Additionally, hundreds more appear at the explosion sites, calling for and helping EMTs where there are casualties.

The Chordroid realizes its error, apologizing to the soldier. Additionally, since Chordroids lack an AI capable of processing emotion, the stare did nothing. The Chordroid rapidly fires three Buster Bolts at the Despair Eye, at the same time using an Energy Boost on the troop once more.

The other Chordroids, having charged their busters, fire twenty simultaneous Lance Shots in such a manner that they harm only Proteus.

Lance Shot: A long beam of energy that pierces virtually anything in its path and deals huge damage. It can be rendered intangible along parts of its trajectory to protect civillians.
