As quickly as they arrived, as quickly as they left. The brightest flames burn out twice as fast, and the Bad Box Art Mega Men were the brightest flames we had. In commemoration, let us always remember the mark they left by me sharing these screenshots so we all don't forget by the end of next year, y'hear?

Spot-on, Error Man! Truthfully it took quite a bit of work in not so much time, but luckily with a little finaggling it came out fine in the nick of time! Funnily enough, Bass and Proto Man weren't even supposed to get BBA alts. It was only when I finished Mega Man's initial sheet that I realized that since they all largely have the same form, it'd be possible to get them done too as long as things were kept simple and poses remained generally the same. Ideally it would've been cool if they had distinct ugly cover forms ala the MM10 U.S cover art, but alas, perhaps another year!

Now, you bring up a good point about the alts, and it was something I personally considered, but decided against for three distinct reasons:

1: Through what I researched, Bad Box Art Mega Man doesn't really change color in the first place. He has alts in Street Fighter X Tekken, but when using Robot Master weapons, he doesn't change color at all since it's really his little cool space gun that does all the work. For the most part it seems he's just a regular dude with a gun.

2: Most importantly, alts for the copy-cores quickly escalates to a lot of work. There's of course 20 elemental variants, but dual-core weapons also have sheets that mix and match as well; this leads to needing to update over a hundred sheets for each individual copy-core, especially combined with having to do separate left-right sheets.

3: This leads into the biggest point, where you have to justify time and effort. Truly I'm sure if I had planned better on my end I could've gotten a good head start, but at that point it becomes a tremendous amount of effort to sink into something that'll only be used for a day and doesn't add to the joke all that much.

That being said, I understand that element being missing could be a little disappointing at first! I hear you and if in the unlikely chance BBA Mega Man becomes his own character one day, somehow, I'll try to see what I can do on my end to amend that. Sorry everyone, but I hope you can enjoy what's there already!

On another note, the quotes for the three copy-cores have all been changed only for today as well. Sadly there's very little that was custom-written by me; most of the writing is genuinely taken (or heavily based) on mistranslations, poor translations, and awkward voice deliveries from all over the franchise!

@GammaGhost : Yeah we've changed so much over the years, especially with a long history as ours visiting the earlier builds is a new experience altogether! There's actually a selection of builds that have been saved over the years, and while they're not all playable I still heavily encourage users to go and check it out.
A custom mission creator would be so cool and the overall community has discussed it so often, but we don't have a direct interface or UI or anything yet so that would be a whole nother endeavor to commission. It's a feature that opens up so many doors and has been shown to be a heavy favorite judging from the popularity of games like Mega Maker and Make a Good Mega Man Level, so I for one would definitely be in favor for it. The 'when' and 'how' would just have to align, as with many other features.
I'm not much of a stickler for semantics, so I think questions like these go perfectly fine in the Official Q&A thread. As long as they're generally related to the game, website, or community, and not random material like asking if anyone has a favorite color or are scared of clowns :V

@Soren : here's a link to a preview build, but it's worth noting it's now pretty much unplayable for newer accounts. Won't do you much good, but you can still read through some of the changes.

It's not at all a touchy subject, don't worry!
RPG World was intended to be a massive improvement on the then-current build of MMRPG, and a bit of signifying that development was moving out of the 'Prototype' phase. In that time period, updates came out build by build and with massive changes instead of more gradual updates like today. In implementing some new features and missions though, some unexpected difficulty came up and ran a lot of progress into the ground, and for a while development essentially stalled and there weren't really any obvious paths on how to move forward. It was after that build, I feel, that the developmental philosophy of Prototype shifted and that, while big updates were great fun, they also caused a lot of strain and stress when things had to be done but one feature would hold everything back.
Now luckily, most of the working features were eventually funneled back into this current build of Prototype, and some of the extra stuff not included is planned to be reimplemented in the current build at some point (like the extra Chapter 1 Missions against Sniper Joe.) Also since then, a lot of the material that didn't work before and caused trouble has also been implemented and with much less difficulty than before, thanks in part to previous improvement and just plain old general growth. There's still some bits that we want to continue bringing over or refine further though, so it's definitely on the ever-growing backlog.

@Superion06 : Yes, you're right that Quint was technically made by another developer studio (Japan System House handled MMII on the GB, for those unaware), and while he's certainly made official appearances yet again in games like Rockboard and Mega Man and Bass, he's not that much less of an oddity than something like the Challenger from the Future robots. For the most part, it comes down to the fact that Quint was generally planned to be in the MMRPG from the start, and a lot of the miscellaneous obscure Robot Masters from DOS and CftF weren't. It's something that the staff has to discuss and go over on whether or not we expand our scope of RMs, if the tools are available to do so, and if we're overall willing to do so. Ultimately, it has to be unanimous.
One of those things we'll just have to see, but I'm certainly glad there are so many fans of the Robot Masters who didn't quite get as much as the limelight of the main title games.

And for custom bosses? There are a few completely original Boss characters that we have lined up, but if you're talking copy-cores that can use any move specifically, that just depends on necessity and if we need some sort of character to fill that role. Nothing planned on that front for now.

@Soren : There may be a few special exceptions that are specifically named like Wily Castle and Light Labs in the series, but for the most part, yes. Most of the stages aren't specifically named in the series, and we have to come up with completely unique names so that each field's name is completely distinct from each other -- this is due to the Fusion Field mechanic in Chapter 4, where any stage can be matched up with another. Likewise it's the same situation for the Starforce fields.

@ShadowVictor75 : At the moment, there's nothing planned; I don't actively develop any of the game's features or systems, so I can't speak for any content updates in the future. My main job on the staff is to help develop the visual and written aspects of the Robot Masters, so at least for me, I'll only be working on the occasional new sprites every so often. Sorry :/

@ShadowVictor75 : Yeah, it looks like that after Mega Man 9 Splash took some pointers from Yamato on doing cool twirling! If someone ever needs help flag twirling or spinning business signs, I think she's the best choice... well, if she could walk on land, that is.

Thank for your words on Turbo Man! I'm glad that you like it!

Here's the next batch of updated spritework! Take a looksy!
Splash Woman splash-woman

Splash Woman

"If you remember what I said last time, there was another MMX100 fusion sheet! Splash Woman’s tri-dent true when it comes to receiving revisions, and with MMX100’s new poses, it was a great opportunity to give her sheet even more dynamic posing. A thanks to him for his previous work coming in wonderfully here, and another thanks to Beta Shadow for his extensive work recoloring this sheet (and many others!)

Of course, for an added bonus, I’d like to thank Tobyjoey for his penwork rewriting a lot of the old dusty MMRPG bios; these past few days alone, he gave great new write-ups to Napalm Man, Gravity Man, Tomahawk Man, and Wind Man. I hope you enjoy the newly-refined Splash Woman sheet and new bios, and that you can continue to look forward to new work from our visual and writing contributors!!!"

Wave Man wave-man

Wave Man

"Wave Man's getting a little bit of cleaning up! I'll try not to harp-oon on this for too long; truthfully, the original work by MetalMan and his posing was really superb, so very little was really changed. What was, if you haven't noticed, is that his color palette has been made a little more vibrant to be brought further into style for MMRPG. Sorry if you wanted something a little bigger this week! As always, the recolor work was handled by Beta

Along with that, Tobyjoey also provided some fabulous new bios yet again this week; this time, for Star Man, Blizzard Man, and Wave Man! Thank you for the work and give them a read y'all!"

Turbo Man turbo-man

Turbo Man

"Jingle all the way! Turbo Man’s gone through his required tune-up, and came out with a new fitting! The posing should be quite familiar to MMX100’s original sheet, but like with Spring Man, ‘Rockman 7 FC’ had an updated sheet available and thus it was perfect to give him some more of that chibi-chonk Classic Mega Man is known for. I know people have requested this for years, so I hope the repair wasn’t too long overdue! (oh, and Flame Man and Crystal Man have new bios too!)"
Along with that, here's a small sampling of sprites that didn't make the cut from these sheets.

@JAKEMAN : Usually the max for abilities stemming from cores is to sell 9 cores, so sell roughly around that total and I'd imagine that they'd pop up.

Suddenly, black.

... it takes a couple of seconds to become alive. Alive if he was. If he was ever. Where was he? He felt loose, weightless.. he felt entirely without form. This was no afterlife... but had one of Wily's attacks gone too far? Wait, they had been attacked. it starts coming back: Light Labs, a device, a flash, him and Dr. Light...

Oh no, where's Dad?! His whole purpose had always been to serve his father dutifully, to lay down his life at any time for his family... was he too late this time? Confusion, despair, panic, it all begins to sink in as his mind selflessly wanders.

But not for long. Suddenly, sensation returns; he's overwhelmed by physical feeling, unlike anything he's ever felt before. It's like he was being reconstructed from scratch, and he begins to feel his body return to him, piece by piece, until... LIGHT

(Go Together)

mega-man

mega-man What in.. w-where am I? What's going on? Dr. Wily, you need to show yourself right now! Hello?

But there's no response. Anywhere, strangely.

Mega Man picks himself up off the floor, examining where exactly he's been stranded. From the looks of it, a quaint countryside. And no doubt a beautiful one, populated by villages... but oddly enough, without the population themselves. No people, no animals, no sign of life in general... this landscape may have been beautiful, but the eerie silence was enough to give Mega Man mechanical goosebumps.

But this was no time to let fear sink in. Mega Man knows better than anyone that when you're the most afraid, that's your heart telling you to keep pushing forward. His anxiety was of no concern; the most important thing is to find Dr. Light!

He spots movement towards the horizon and sets forth on his path...

More than anything, he wishes he had a GPS! Naturalistic landscapes can certainly be very pretty, but unlike the cities and factories he's used to, there's such little care and design put into the path... it's always a pain going on these hikes. But also unlike cities, forests bring with them a sense of relaxation. Cities have such commotion and there's always something to be done whether it be as Rock or Mega Man, but it's easy to forget you're the sole hope of the world when the beauty of the world surrounds you. Of course, in this instance the unexplained circumstance and Dr. Light's safety were certainly more pressing than any relaxation time. Mega Man still keeps in mind that tomorrow's garbage day, though. Oh, and he can't forget to feed Rush and Tang-- !!!!

..... !!! met

mega-manmet

mega-man No, no, little guy! I don't have time for this! Please, calm down!

!!!!!!!! met

mega-man I've never seen a Met so riled up before... I'm afraid I don't have a choice! I don't want to hurt you, little guy... but if you won't leave me any other option...

Out of nowhere, a voice... His voice!

Mega Man, my boy! Thank goodness I've found you!

dr-light There's a severe Met problem here! I've an inkling of what's been going on... but I can't explain the behavior of the Mechas here! If my hypothesis is correct, then you shouldn't have to worry about disposing of this mecha!

mega-man Dr. Light, thank goodness I've found you! I'm lost, but if you think it's okay... then fine! I'll take care of him ASAP! dr-light mega-man

@ShadowVictor75 : @Beta Shadow : Beta's correct: to clarify, only Robot Masters that are playable would require new alts. Of course, the only exception is that the Robot Masters from Mega Man 5 and Blizzard Man have had preemptive alts made for them; I can confirm those were made all the way back since this build from 2016. That's why someone like Charge Man has alts, despite not being playable just yet. Besides those few, Spring, Grenade, and Magma wouldn't really need alts yet.

So as per usual, I've been doing an awful lot of slacking in communicating some new info! In the past two months there's been quite a few new sprite updates and adjustments added to the game, so from now I'll offer updates more often to keep the denizens of the Community far more updated. There's nothing directly new, but there have been some visual updates and it's about time that you get to stop looking at Beta's profile to figure out something a staff member should've told you in the first place. Sorry everyone!
Doc Robotdoc-robot

Doc

Though he's still not quite a boss yet, it's best to keep him looking pretty for when his time comes! The main adjustments here are not only some new dynamic poses, but a completely new face as well.

Spark Manspark-man

Spark

Marking the next MM3 character to rock a new look, the double spark-plug robot Spark Man has an entirely new sheet now. Hope you enjoy the new look!

Ring Manring-man

Ring

This MM4 Robot enters the ring with a new look! This is courtesy of me and Brash Buster, so I hope everyone enjoys his new look!

Dust Mandust-man

Dust

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust! Dust Man specifically, since he's been given a new sheet now. Check it out.

Charge Mancharge-man

Charge

Choo choo! Not a massive revamp, but there's been some basic edits to Charge Man's coloring and posing to bring him further into style. Thanks to Sean Adamson for helping form a lot of the previous foundation.

Spring Manspring-man

Spring

Boing-yong-yong! Everyone's favorite bouncy and brightly colored robot (that isn't Bounce Man) springs into a new look! I'd love it if you were to check it out

Grenade Mangrenade-man

Grenade

THAT FELT GOOD! Some edits to the sheet of the excitable and erratic thrillseeker we all know and love, Grenade Man! I hope he's a... uhh 'great-aid' to the visual quality of the overall game?

Magma Manmagma-man

Magma

This volcano's getting set to explode! The Geothermal Power Robot, Magma Man, has gotten a couple of new poses and clean-ups to keep freshened up. This sheet's become a bit of a cumulative work, so enjoy the dapper look of this 'magmanimous' lad.

I say cumulative for a bit of an interesting development reason; this sheet's actually compiled of not only just the original sheet, but from a separate sheet from MMX100 that didn't quite get finished. These two were then combined to make a bit of a supervolcano sheet, if you will.

And now, an exclusive look behind the curtain for those of you in the Community! Here’s a compilation of sprites from these sheets and others that didn’t quite make the cut for the final release, but were created anyway. I hope you enjoy and let me know if you happen to favor any of these over what was used!
