Last time I wore this, I was giving the shrine maiden a little...tour of my Extra Stage*. Figured it'd be appropriate to put it on again while getting ready for something even harder to vanquish.
Wait, did the shrine maiden get vanquished or the Extra Stage?
Ignoring the question, Rika attaches a small device to her eyes that forces them open, with a small screen placed over one eye.
Uh...what's that?
High-intensity Ludovico technique. The normal kind takes a special medicine and two weeks, so I made a two-hour version with just the important stuff. If anything messy happens out there, I can skip the panicking and get straight to the helping.
The entire crew stares at Rika with significant uneasiness as she nonchalantly begins to build something.
Scorched Castle†

Hoo boy, Crescendo's here‡. He's leaning against one of the few pieces of the castle not still molten after all this time.
Hmph. You'd think someone would have at least cleaned this place-
As the Super Wily Number turns his head condescendingly, he notices a figure in a black hood...just casually sitting on the ground.
And who the heck are-
Nope.
The figure hops off the ground and runs...into the pile of burning metal. Surprisingly, only a few yelps are heard.

After a couple of seconds, the Mini-Halberd rights itself back up, and takes off again, going at top speed!

‡Recap: Crescendo is the answer to Bass from a Universe where the Mega Man series continued from the end of Cut Man's story in Mega Man Powered Up. The result is an...irritating fellow, to say the least.

Beta Man's final three sentences have been relayed to the Brash Crew. Three of the Crew's straregists have already set up a basic plan.
Well, first thing we know; we're not using the simulations*. Those were based on what had been faced before, and even if the power creep didn't cause that plan to backfire then, it would now.
Just as Fang unlocks the safe containing the artifacts, Sonic Man continues.
Second. We will be using those artifacts, but not only will we - as in, those of us who can respond immediately - be using them, we won't be relying on them. If Beta Diablo can knock Beta Shadow out of Ultra Instinct, he can definitely knock physical objects out of us. We need strength that can stick with us.
As Rika pulls out a red box, she continues for Sonic Man.
Third, we need something to counter planet-killers. Not having something like that is another reason Regulus didn't work out for us, and I have every doubt in the world that just stacking our shields like we did back then is going to work. Heck, I'd be surprised if it worked back then.
As Rika steps into a small side room with a closing door, King Dedede concludes.
An' fourth. We gotta figure out how t' do all dis togetha. We done tried havin' one guy set up most o' da trainin' before, an', well...
Dedede tilts his head in Rumia's direction.
...if we wanna 'void dat problem again, we gotta talk 'mongst us.
Rika opens the side room door, in a new outfit.
No more numbered stats. We're not gonna be spectators this time.

*Reference/Recap: The final step of the Brash Crew's preparation for Regulus involved the members going through simulations based on prior events in the Roleplay with minor twists.
†Recap: Rumia (along with Yoshi, R.O.B., Bandanna Dee, Lulu, and Chunky Kong) was trained by Meta Knight to prepare for the fight against Regulus. Aside from what I think has been made quite clear about Regulus, Rumia still had a significant weakness to light; said weakness left her comatose for a while due to a battle where her opponent took full advantage of this, and only after recovering and circumventing said weakness has the Brash Crew been prepared to involve her in missions again.

I know you're here to talk, Brash. Just say it.
What the hell am I supposed to do?! Beta's insisting that the Singularity's the villain just because RotomSlashBlast claimed the arc over two months ago despite how painfully obvious it is that he doesn't have much time to dedicate to villains most of us SHOULD BE PAYING ATTENTION TO, and now Beta Diablo's a thing and I'm getting freaked out that it's gonna end like I thought it would when Regulus showed up and-
Be more concise, please.
Just...how am I supposed to start any new plotlines when it looks like they're going to be taken away from me? And when this does end, where the hell does that leave me?! NintendoPanda?! Any of this?!
In all fairness, the master post has always said that the Chaos Zone could be perfectly prone to ending, so long as Beta Devil was destroyed. And Beta Shadow has every right to do so; the Trio of Origin may have been reduced to decoration, but he has the power to end this roleplay.
Yes, and I've come to accept that. We can always make another world like this so we can let our imagination run free if we want to. But if I don't know how to handle this before that, I'm dead weight to everything but the Grey Matter storyline.
Reasonable enough. But Regulus was defeated, and-
And I'm still trying to figure out what to do with all the stuff I made up when I thought I was actually going to matter in the "fight".
Brash, let your characters do the job. If things don't work out, we move on. It's as simple as that, and you're just making it sound more complex because you're bitter about something you probably won't even lose.
...
Fine.

The (Mini) Halberd - Control Room (in UKR Bunker)

As the mini-Halberd takes a right into the Command Quarters, R.O.B.* scans the area for the next ideal route.
*Recap: Besides Mighty, the Halberd is currently occupied by Meta Knight, Bandanna Waddle Dee, R.O.B., Dark Bladesmatter (a Parallel counterpart to Dark Matter Blade from Kirby's Dream Land 2 who disagrees with Grey Matter's ideals) and Diplomat Martin (a UKR soldier who has experienced Grey Matter's effects on his team firsthand); MK and Dee are involved due to Grey Matter's similarities to (and initial confusion with) Dark Matter, with King Dedede having also been involved before returning to the Brash Crew (who MK, Dee, and R.O.B. are also part of) to keep an eye on Rumia (which is another can of worms entirely). R.O.B. is on the trip because he (correctly) feared the UKR's deal with Grey Matter would result in similar circumstances to his own in the Subspace Emissary from Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

The Hope-infused claw of the Halberd stretches out and carefully cuts a hole through the window glass, with the shrunken Halberd trying to make it through the less crowded door while also minimalizing the noise it makes.
*Recap: The Halberd is currently empowered with Hope Energy (the opposite of the Despair that Grey Matter relies on) because Mighty placed the Love-Love Stick (Kirby's Dream Land 3) into the Reactor; it's been shrunken down because thanks to the events of [Kirby Planet Robobot]{spoiler}, the Halberd was able to gain powers from a Copy Essence of the Mini ability (Kirby and the Amazing Mirror).

Ah, yeah, right. Here ya go.
Fang pulls out the Sol Emeralds and hands them to Blaze.
So, uh...need anythin' else?

*Reference (Recap): During the buildup to the battle against Regulus, Metal Sonic formed a small group that collected various artifacts in hopes that using them would give them an edge over Regulus (spoiler: it didn't), including the Super Emeralds (new ones that exist independently from the Chaos Emeralds), Crystal Stars, Chaos Rings, Time Stones, Sol Emeralds, and Rainbow Drops, with Mr. L also providing the Purity Heart and Sage Medallions when the group ended up meeting with the Brash Crew. As of right now, the Purity Heart and Time Stones' whereabouts are unknown (they were last seen with Mario and Unbeatable Air, respectively), the Rainbow Drops are being used by Meta Knight, and the rest (save for the Sol Emeralds, of course) are being kept safe by the Brash Crew.

Honestly, as much as I wasn't paying attention back then, I still remembered bits and pieces of what went on there when I was reminded about it.
...which was because I reminded him, since there was something that seemed important to tell him because he was figuring things out anyway*.
As for how I know all this...to tell the truth, I'm not sure. I've just kinda figured out how to know these things for a while.

*Reference (Recap): Back on Page 90, Post #1, Kogasa explained that Dyna Man's position as a pre-existing character who I use like a self-insert made him a "Pseudoreaper"; the "hierarchy" that made such a fact important back then isn't important anymore, though the whole situation means Dyna Man remembers Universes he was in before, and can break the fourth wall sometimes.

Mighty, get ready to assist with the door.

Clockwork Tower
Well, this is the place!
Look, I don't know what nonsense you're trying to pull to butter me up, but I'm telling you right now it won't-
Just as Silver Sonic II's about to attempt striking Heavy Magician again, a long sword gently lowers in front of him.
Calm down. She's with us.
S. Sonic II floats back a few feet, and turns to the tall figure. Alongside her are two familiar faces: a small mechanic and a robot maid.
Wait, didn't I see you guys on...
Oh, that's right! From the experiments!
To tell the truth, I'm still rather confused about the magician's plans...
AGREED. TELL US MORE!
Of course. You see, I found that plenty of people, including you four, were left to yourselves from a shared conflict: the HEX. None of you seemed much closer to solving the problem on your own, so of course I wanted to give you some strength in numbers!
To tell the truth, you were far from the only I contacted on the matter. I talked to a recent colleague, as well as two of the other experiments, but they were...less interested. In fact, two of the three seemed opposed to it.
I doubt you're all intent on staying together that often, hence why everyone has a trip back!
Silver Sonic II turns behind him, noticing three portals; two lead to unfamiliar locations, while the third he quickly recognizes as Station Square.
Well, that's all on my end. I hope you know what to do from here!
Wait, what? You aren't staying?
Not a chance. I simply wanted to help a few in need, is all; I'm not the greatest magician for a scheduled performance. Farewell!
Heavy Magician pulls her hat over her body, and disappears without a trace. Silver Sonic II looks at the others in the newly-formed quartet, then turns to the Station Square portal.
Well, uh...I need to keep check on the Square for now. But hey, if we need a group meeting, I'll be there.
Reasonable, for sure. We'll be ready for then, uh-
...you know, we never caught your name.
Name's Silver Sonic II. Don't get me confused with the first.
Silver Sonic II flies through the portal, back to Station Square.
You'd think they came from two different people just hearing both for a minute each...

Silver Sonic II follows a sparkling trail to the yellow hat...from which a round robot appears out of!!
(Character Theme) ♫ Sonic Mania - Who's the Boss? ♫
Sorry to interrupt your routine, good sir, but-
Eggman's robots again?!
The quilled robot tries to strike Heavy Magician with a Silver Beam, only for her to vanish and reappear right next to him!
Now, now, let's not get ahead of ourselves. It's been a good two or three years since I've listened to the doctor*. I'm here to help.
Two or three...wait, what†?
You do remember the eight others you were grouped with during the nonsense with the HEX Adaptors, don't you?
...enough that I don't remember you being a part of it.
I suppose you'll need to see for yourself. Don't worry, I'll give you a trip back!
Before S. Sonic II can understand what Heavy Magician means, both of them vanish in a burst of smoke and stars!
*The time since the release of Sonic Mania Plus and the original Sonic Mania, respectively.
†Because the Classic Sonic cast has appeared several times, while characters such as Fang have awareness of post-Classic events, I'm running with the idea that Sonic Mania is the only main game (so far) not to take place in the same Universe as the other games, hence Silver Sonic II's confusion.

(Drone Man) Abandoned Factory Ruins

Shadow Digital watches the last of another danmaku barrage fly and dissipate along the cliffs of the ruins, sidestepping out of the way of a stray energy bullet.
You feel good about that one?
Yeah!! That was awesome!!
Nice. Well, that's all the Spell Cards you were working on, let's get back to the lab before the crew gets worried again.
As the duo sets on their way, Rumia turns to Digital.
...so, how are we gonna know when these work? I mean, on someone I need them for?
Probably next time someone like that shows up.
Wouldn't we just have to look? Couldn't we just do that right now?
I mean, we could. But I don't think we should.
Why not? If there's more people, it's more help, isn't it?
You'd think so, yeah. Thing is, sometimes you don't know if everyone's ready for you...
Digital's eyes fixate on Fang's airbike for a second before he continues.
...and sometimes if you're caught up with that, you're too busy to work on something else if it shows up in the meantime. And it's not easy to just leave in the middle of a fight.
Sure, there's a lot of crazy stuff going on, but it's good to know whose crazy stuff it is. Sometimes others are ready for a helping hand, sometimes it's personal.
That sounds like waiting...
Kind of is. But hey, when the time comes, we're ready. And now we don't have to leave you out of it.

Station Square

With the Extreme having been removed from his body and the city repaired, Silver Sonic II watches with a bird's eye view.
Man, it's quiet since that whole freakout with that thing that got shoved over my shoulders.
I mean, not that it's a bad thing, but-
The city guardian notices a small hat resting on the manhole in City Hall.
...the heck?
As S. Sonic II lowers himself for a closer look, a gloved hand pops out from under the manhole, pulling the hat down with it!
Hey, hold on!!
Silver Sonic II zips down, quickly pulling up the manhole lid and following the figure down!!

The Halberd - Control Room (at Earth)
... (That might work. Though, I do worry about where we'd find such technology...)
What if we used one of those Copy Essences? Like the one with the Mini ability*?
... (I'm unsure how that would work...but then again, the ship did adjust to the Love-Love Stick in its Reactor rather easily.)
Given this isn't the first, or even second time the Halberd has been able to adjust to a foreign power source, I suppose it's not out of the question. In fact, the first time did involve a machine capable of inheriting Copy Abilities†, which may actually increase our chances.
Bandanna Dee pulls out the Copy Essence in question.
Well, we won't know if we don't try!

The Halberd - Control Room (at Earth)

Meta Knight lets out a sigh, blending defeat with confidence.
Again, we'll be returning to Mighty's initial idea.
He steps up to the ship's radar to find one of the strongest Grey Matter sources, prepared to hunt it down.
Bio Star Labs - Vents

Fang reaches Level 3!
No problem, mates. I got in just fine, I can get out, too.
As Fang seta a path to exit, he turns to the Biostar team for one final comment.
By the way, just so ya know: it's half-wolf and half-jerboa, not weasel.
Fang leaves the factory, driving back to Doppler Labs on his Marvelous Queen.
(Drone Man) Abandoned Factory Ruins

Rumia places a golden sword on the ground, and floats back a few feet.
Well, you know what they say; third time's the charm.
Of course, they also like to keep assigning "the charm" to higher or lower numbers, but whatever.
Rumia uses nothing but darkness to lift up the sword, and proceeds to swing it in front of her. The sword vanishes after the swing.
Wait, did I...?
Rumia concentrates, and the sword reappears, swinging in front of her and vanishing the same way. After repeating a few more times, Rumia jumps up in excitement.
Yay!
That's one down. Remind me again; how many skills did you find?
Six. You know where we find those empty Spell Card thingies that Daiyousei had before she put things on them?
...
Shadow Digital reaches into a pocket further back in his cape, finding just enough for Rumia to use.
Well, I made a promise.

Sword of Arcana: Rumia summons a golden sword, swinging it in front of her in a horizontal half-circle.
