Alright so before I say anything --

The demo is garbage. It has been talked about time and time again, but it is quite possibly one of the biggest issues of Prototype. This isn't me overstating anything here -- The demo is a serious issue. It is harder than even most of the late post-game stuff, including the player battles. Demos for games are usually just the first two or so super easy levels that give the general consumer a good feel for the game. Sometimes demos, like here, are custom and original things, and that is fantastic. I love demos that give original content. But if the original content pushes away a possible player base, then it has failed as a demo.

For those that haven't tried out the demo and, like myself, just immediately created an account and never touched the demo until hearing there even was original content in it, then here is a quick overview of it:

-Characters: You can't unlock any new characters, such as the robot masters you fight in battle, and you are stuck with Mega Man, Proto Man, and Bass. They are unable to level up and are stuck at level 1 for the entirety of the demo.
-Moveset: The moveset here is honestly pretty great, though you can't change it up to suit your playstyle, like in the actual game.
-Items: Two large energy capsules, two small, two large weapon capsules, two small weapon capsules. That is it. You can't get any more items, and you can't equip items. Also, the items don't come back after the mission is complete. Yikes.
-Missions: The first mission is three level one Mets, the next is Cut Man and Metal Man. Already, only two missions in, there is a massive difficulty spike, which, to be fair, is similar to the actual game, but in the actual game you could level grind. Here all you are able to do is hope your strategy is good and pray you to get good RNG for critical hits. The third mission is incredibly hard, especially with Crash Man having an OHKO move (!!!!!!!), and the forth is practically impossible, due to it being a 3v6, which, mind you, the 6 are all level 4 with attacks that can knock out half your HP, while you are level 1. There may be more after this, such as a rumored Quint battle (if anyone has beaten the demo, please confirm this for me, thanks), but Oil Wells, the fourth mission, is too hard for me, the guy in THIRD PLACE ON THE LEADERBOARDS.
-Shops: Nonexistent, which really really sucks because of the lack of item refills.
-Difficulty progression compared to the actual game: While there is a clear difficulty increase from Chapter 1 to Chapter 2, and Chapter 2 to 3, it isn't this bad.

So, you may be wondering, why should I even care? Because, for a good number of the player base, the demo is the first experience they get of Prototype. This demo has potentially killed off a large number of a player base that will most likely never come back to Prototype. I would even say upwards to 40-60% even. This demo could potentially be the reason why Prototype has not gotten that big of a fanbase what so ever. Think in the eyes of a random dude, possibly a bit young, that found this cool Mega Man RPG that is unlike any other fangame, and they try out the demo to see if it is any good. Then they get completely destroyed. Why would they want to continue if the demo is this hard, no? The main game surely must be much harder, they say! And believe it or not, this is the reality for many. According to a user, the demo pushed them away for two years! The only reason they may have found Prototype again is that of luck or the memory of it came up.

So: Here is my plan to fix this disaster.

1: The first thing of note is level grinding in the demo should be a thing. None of the this "you are level 1 for the entire demo" nonsense.
1.1: Ideally it should have it so that all robots in the party (Mega, Proto, and Bass) are all at at least level 3 by the third mission, and level 5 by the fourth.
2: Tutorials. It is a simple thing, but showing the player good strategies and things like the scan button and items very existence could really help out, especially with the younger audience which I know Prototype attracts.
3: Being able to unlock other robot masters. This would be great to happen and preferably should have a tutorial to show the player how unlocking them works (see my guide on that for a good example of how it could look)
4: More items. This could be done through one of two ways:
4.1: A shop that you can get a few good choices of items, such as a 1-up, energy capsules, and so on, or
4.2: Just giving the player more items. If this method is chosen, make it so that the items fully refill after each and every mission. Remember! Demos are SUPPOSED TO BE EASY. So, doing little quality of life things that ease the player into the real deal would be fantastic.
5: Being able to switch up the movesets. It is a simple thing, but being able to switch the movesets would be great. Why would you want to use Dive Missile when you can use the far better Rain Flush or heck, even Bubble Lead? And so on.
6: Being able to choose which robot goes first, second, and third (and so on if the addition of being able to unlock the other robot masters is made) would be a great quality of life change.
This plan doesn't even include balancing of the missions and I have already made the demo a lot more beginner friendly (WHICH IS WHAT DEMOS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE). I know it would require a lot of work, but just doing these simple additions to the demo makes it far more beginner friendly, and hey, we might start seeing more users actually making accounts rather than rage quitting on the demo.

[Last updated: 1/9/19]

The way to unlock certain robots has been asked, especially MM3 robots, has been asked a surprisingly high amount of times.

So, this guide is a full guide on how to unlock every robot, MM1+ robot masters, and things like Roll, Disco, and Rhythm.

1. The Mega Man 1, Mega Man 2, and Mega Man 4 Robot Masters.

I'm grouping these all together because they are all unlocked the same. For the MM1 Robot Masters, use only neutral type attacks (Buster Shot buster-shot, Mega Buster, mega-buster Mega Ball, mega-ball and so on.) on the Robot Master of the stage. Metal Man metal-man, Hard Man hard-man, Fire Man fire-man, Bright Man bright-man, and so on are all unlocked with this method.
Don't actually use Mega Man though against Elec Man if you are low leveled!

NOTE: It is okay to use elemental attacks on the mechas of the stage, but you cannot use elemental attacks on the actual robot master!
NOTE 2:: The stage has to be the Chapter 2 Robot Master stages. The fusion stages don't work for unlocking them!
This method is the same for Chapter 2 of Dr. Wily, and Dr. Cossack.

2. Roll, Disco, and Rhythm

These three are unlocked the same way essentially, but with a slight variation.
For Roll, using Doctor Light, lose any battle. For new players I recommend going to Elec Man's stage with Mega Man only.
For Disco, it is the same method, but with Doctor Wily, and you have to lose two different battles.
For Rhythm, it is the same method, but with Doctor Cossack, and you have to lose three different battles.

NOTE: The failed missions have to be different missions.

yeah do this (rip)

UPDATE:
This old method still works, but there is now a new method:
To unlock Roll, Disco, or Rhythm now all you have to do is beat the Intro Field a second time as Light, Wily, or Cossack respectively
So now you can unlock all robots without having to ever lose once.

There is also an extra method for those that don't want to do either of these methods, and that is the passwords. To unlock the password screen, click the doctor sprite about 10 times in the tab above the home/shop/robots/etc tab and to the right of the battle points tab. Then you get a secret password popup. From there;
To unlock Roll from this; put in "Robot Get: Let's Rock n' Roll!"
To unlock Disco from this; put in "Robot Get: Panic at the Disco!"
To unlock Rhythm from this; put in "Robot Get: Rhythm and Blues!"

3. Mega Man, Bass, and Proto Man

These three are unlocked automatically with you unlocking each doctor. Start the game and you get Mega Man. Unlock Doctor Wily and you get Bass, and unlock Doctor Cossack and you get Proto Man.

THERE HE IS

4. Mega Man 3 bots, and MM5+

All you have to do is just scan the robot you want (Snake Man, Magic Man, Jewel Man, etc) and you should be able to buy them for 48k zenny in Kalkina's shop. That's it. No having to buster only them in their fields or anything. This method is incredibly easier, and I personally recommend it, but if you don't have much zenny, either sell some items or scan your stars. Besides the large amount of zenny you need, there is not much challenge or confusion to this method at all.

List of robots you can unlock through buying them (updated 1/9/18):
-All Mega Man 3 Robot Masters
-Wave Man
-Star Man
-Gravity Man
-Gyro Man
-Splash Woman
-Magic Man
-Slash Man
-Jewel Man
-Blizzard Man
-Freeze Man
-Frost Man
-Block Man
Hope this helps!

FINAL NOTE: Any robot that isn't mentioned here is NOT unlockable as of right now. When new robots become unlockable I will try to quickly get out an update for how to unlock them as quickly as possible. As MegaBossMan noted below, some users have figured out how to manipulate their user data to get robots that aren't unlockable yet. I will not add a guide on how to do that yourself, as I don't know how to do that, and I don't want more people breaking the game.[/i]

edit: thanks for the sticky, mod squad *finger guns*
edit 2: an explanation of how to unlock the new bots in the most recent update as now been added
edit 3: various fixes and cleaning up to this thread; field method for unlock mm3 bots has been removed

insert and prototype too probably???

LINK TO THE DEVKIT
LINK TO MAGMML2 DISCORD (fair warning, the discord as a bit of...looser rules than compared to prototype's, if you know what I mean.)
LINK TO THE SPRITES INC THREAD

Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest, or MaGMML for short, was a contest that happened in Super Mario Bros X site Talkhaus, and Sprites Inc. The basic idea of the contest was for people to submitt levels made in the Game Maker engine and see how well ranked it would do compared to other levels by the five judges. Well, they are doing it again, this time better than ever!

You don't need any Game Maker experience to take part in. The engine is extremely easily to use, and if you need any help, ask on the sprites thread or better yet for faster results, the Discord.

THE RULES.
1. One stage per person. Pretty self-explanatory.
2. Teams of two are allowed to work on levels together.
3. Custom assets are allowed, but make sure to include all of them with your submission files.
4. Don't modify any existing objects without permission from SnoruntPyro.
5. No NSFW content inside levels. If the judges catch any of this, your level will be disqualified.
6. You can have up to three energy elements in your level. When sending your level, tell SnoruntPyro on Sprites Inc or on the Discord how many your level has.
7. Make sure to title your room lvl(Level Name)_(Username) filling in username and level name with the relevant info. No parantheses. For example, lvlButts_Ender. If you have multiple rooms, just make it something like lvlButts_Ender_1, lvlButts_Ender_2, etc.
8. Suffix your custom assets with your username. For example, objMet_Ender.
9. Judging this time is supposed to be pretty much anonymous. Keep all level spoilers to #level-showcase on the Discord, or Private Messaging on the forums. If you leak your level, there will be score penalties.

FRIENDLY TIPS AND STUFF???
1. There are no lives! In my opinion (and many others) lives really only serve to make you redo stuff you already beat, so we got rid of them. 1-Ups just give you a full health refill now.
2. This game will be featuring a new collectible, the Noble Nickel. The object isn't actually added to the devkit yet. You can have up to 5 in your stage, but you don't have to have any if you don't want to have them. Collecting all of these items will give a unique reward :3 (it's been decided on already)
3. Not all energy elements will be required to fight Wily. I'd say about 75% of them will be required?
4. If your stage is too hard/obnoxious/long/glitchy/whatever that makes it super incredibly not fun to play, your level might be made skippable, with all energy elements and collectibles available in one special room. This (hopefully) won't happen to too many levels, though.
5. Make sure to test your level!!! City War from the original is infamous for not being tested thoroughly!!!!!!!!
6. Enemy variety is important!! Please don't just make your level filled with Mets, Sniper/Hammer Joes, and Croakers! There's a ton of stuff to work with so don't just stick to the basics!
7. Place checkpoints frequently! No one likes having to redo a ton of stuff whenever they die!

HOW TO SUBMIT
1. Go to the top left, and click "File" and find the dropdown menu.
2. Select "Export Resources".
3. Name your .gmres file your username.
4. A menu will pop up. Hit "Select None". Check "Rooms" and nothing else.
5. If you have any custom sprites, save them as PNGs via Game Maker and be sure to provide a text file with info on masks and sprite centering.
6. If you have any custom objects, go to the object editor, click "Show Information", and copy paste all of that info into a .txt, word document, whatever idrc. Just as long as it's there.
7. Provide PNGs or WAVs for any custom backgrounds or sound effects, respectively.
8. Send all of these files to SnoruntPyro via either PM on Sprites Inc., a Discord DM (SnoruntPyro#9758), or email (pyroguy66666@gmail.com). (nice email, pyro)

Alright now, a while back y'all may rember How Mike did the Quiz thing and Tails did the Jeopardy thing. Those were pretty great, it put more people in the chat, people were all around just having a great time. Now, this brings me to my great idea that totally won't go wrong at all trust me,

THE SUPER DUPER JACKBOX PARTY...thing.

How this will work!
For those that don't know already, Jackbox is a party game. There is three Jackbox games, each with a few different selections of games. For a example, in Jackbox 3, there is a game where you have to draw the best shirt and a caption for said shirt, all while anime-esque visuals play. For each game, usually up to 8 players can join, and the remaining players can be a audience member. I'll be livestreaming the game at 7 PM CST (Central Standard Time) every Saturday night till this dies off. To join the game, before the game starts a code will appear. Put in that code, along with your name, and you be able to join the game at jackbox.tv . If you are late or the game is full, you will be a audience member. I'll play three different games each time.

The rules!
Rule #1 Please, all answers have to follow MMRPG rules.
Rule #2 Just have fun. Other than following basic MMRPG rules, just have fun, and don't spoil the fun for others.

Next game: Friday the 3rd, 7 PM CST, 8 PM EST

Hello there! Before you read any of this, this is not a tournament that you control, this is going to be tournament made in a hunger games simulator, with extra commentary made by myself, and possibly MusicalKitty. This is pretty much inspired by the Sprites Inc thread.

Here is the Simulator: http://brantsteele.net/hungergames

Rules: To enter, Submit your name and gender (if genderless, somehow, then I will assume Male since putting ? as a gender in the Simulator doesn't ever work for me. EEEEEEE) along with a picture that will be used as your character pic.
There really isn't that many people in the MMRPG community (the smallest size for a hunger games is 24 people, and the most we will be getting is probably 10 or 12, but that's only if I'm super-duper lucky) so, you can submit two names, along has you have a gender and pic for each; they can be you yourself, or just a OC, it doesn't matter.

List of People that have joined-

(I would show pic this happening but Puush does not work for me :-/. Also i'm not sure if I should put this in the bug reports or not so I put it here.) Hello everyone I just wanted to show everyone true power of the top spin by telling you how this works or whatever...um...LETS JUST GET ON WITH IT. Ok so basically I was grinding my ring man (it now has 9999 attack and defence!) and I used speed swap on a quick man...which means he now has 6000 speed so I used shadow blade on him but of course he attacks first...and he uses top spin which hits again and again till he ring dies. (I think it hit 25 or so times .-.) so yeah...of course now I wanna grind my top man a bit now because of this though, has this happened to anyone else though?

Can buying items in the shops become a lot easier? If I want to buy 99 of an item, I have to click the buy button 99 times, instead of just saying how many of the item I want and then I can just easily proceed to buy the item in just a few clicks instead of 99 times. That way, the tediousness of buying a lot of items at once can be GREATLY reduced and I don't have to button mash to get items anymore. (Same would also be nice for the selling in the shop as well obviously)

Also, in Kalinka's show stars tab, a "show all" button where all the stars that she wants are immediately shown, once again, greatly reducing tediousness and streamlining the process, especially those like myself who have all the stars and just want the free cash real quick.

back in 2018 we had to wait all year for an update, kids today just don't get the struggle smh
but uhh nice. the amount of popups really isn't that bad though, it was only like, 9 or so, which took like, 10 seconds to click through, so no need to apologize for that lol.
also i like as soon as mike leaves prototype for good starforce is finally fixed lmao
