The name says it all: if you have an idea for an alternate costume (see the preview upcoming Winter Update for more information), post it here. Most of these probably won't make it in, but we can give it the old college try anyways. Go wild!

As the title implies, this topic is for anyone to post their headcannons, fan theories, and the like regarding Mega Man. Every series and subseries (Classic, X, Zero, ZX, Legends, Battle Network, Star Force, Misc. Spinoffs, Adaptions, etc.) is far game. Discussing theories is allowed, but any criticism must be constructive and fair.

I found this little nugget while browsing YouTube. For those who haven't heard of Game Theory, it's a funny and informative YouTube series that analyzes the real-life scientific principles behind your favorite video games. This episode focuses on the Mega Man series, but their are also ones on Pokémon, Zelda and Final Fantasy. I'd recommend subscribing to this guy's channel, his videos are always entertaining and thought provoking.

Watch the video here.

Big news: Keiji Inafune, creator of Mega Man, and his new company, Comcept, are creating a brand-new, Megaman-inspired side-scroller!

Taken from the official Kickstarter page here:

"Classic Japanese side-scrolling action, evolved and transformed by Keiji Inafune, an all-star team of veteran Mega Man devs...and YOU!

Mighty No. 9 is an all-new Japanese side-scrolling action game that takes the best aspects of the 8- and 16-bit era classics you know and love, and transforms them with modern tech, fresh mechanics, and fan input into something fresh and amazing!

You play as Beck, the 9th in a line of powerful robots, and the only one not infected by a mysterious computer virus that has caused mechanized creatures the world over to go berserk. Run, jump, blast, and transform your way through six stages (or more, via stretch goals) you can tackle in any order you choose, using weapons and abilities stolen from your enemies to take down your fellow Mighty Number robots and confront the final evil that threatens the planet!

Every aspect of development—art, level design, music, programming, etc.—is being handled by veteran Japanese game creators with extensive experience in the genre, and with Mega Man in particular, all the way up to and including the project’s leader, Keiji Inafune himself! Backers will have unprecedented access to seeing this team at work through blogs, podcasts, videos, concept art—the works!

Mighty No. 9 is being developed for the PC with gamepad support (of course!), and will be made available through Steam and DRM-free digital distribution methods. Other platforms, including home consoles, Mac, and Linux, are a high priority, but only if we can afford them via stretch goals. Should we reach those goals, anyone funding the project will be allowed to choose which version of the game they would like to receive. The estimated release date is spring 2015.

This project is on Kickstarter so it can involve YOU, the fans! Not only will this make it possible, through crowdfunding, for us to make the game exactly as we envision it, but it also allows us to bring dedicated fans of this genre together to assist the team in shaping aspects of the game’s design. We need your help! Let’s make something amazing, and let’s do it together!"

So what do you say, guys? Got any extra cashola to help one of gaming's greatest developers create yet another masterpiece?

Anyone here ever heard of Make Your Move on the Smashboards? It's A sort of competition where the users there can create a Super Smash Bros. moveset for any character they can imagine, even if they aren't from Nintendo games, or video games in general!

That's basically the premise here. You're tasked with creating MMRPG Prototype statistics for a character not yet featured in-game. This could be a character from the Mega Man X, Zero, ZX, Legends, Battle Network, or Star Force subseries, a 'bot from other media, or a fan project. Unlike Make Your Move, this is purely for fun, but you can comment on each other's movesets (Just keep any criticisms constructive!).

Note that whatever characters you create probably won't added to the game. Adrian's got his work cut out for him as it is!

A complete moveset MUST contain the character's...
-...Name, and what game they come from.
-...Core Type (Cutter, Flame, etc.) Determines what MMRPGP moves the character can use. Usually related from what moves the charter uses in their game, their appearance, and what weapons/gear you get from them.
-...Attack(How much damage they deal), Defense(How much damage they take), and Speed(How fast the robot moves to attack, and how accurate their attacks are). You have 300 points to spend on each stat.
-...Weakness(What moves do double damage to them) and Resistances(What moves to half damage to them). Give your 'bot two each.
-...Affinity(Moves heal them), OR Immunity(Moves that do no damage to them). Give ONLY one of either.

You could also add some extra bits to add some flair to your character, such as...
-...A numerical designation(i.e. Proto Man is DLN-000)
-...A class. If you've played Pokémon, these are like the little sub-designations in the Pokedex entries(i.e. Pikachu is the Electric Mouse Pokémon, Proto Man is the Renegade Prototype Robot). They can describe the character's personality, abilities or job.
-...Quotes for when the character enters battle, taunts their opponent, wins or losses. Can be derived from their source material, or interpreted from their personality.

If you have any confusion on what a moveset looks like, I'd recommend checking out some examples in the Database. I hope to see plenty of cool ideas for characters!

EDIT: In order to make this topic a little more interesting (I mean, the last post was over a year ago), it is now open to characters from ALL video games, not just Mega Man.

EDIT 2: In celebration of the field-centric Star Force Update, you can now create fan-made fields! I mean, what's the point of making bunch of awesome fan-made robots without some place for them to kick each other's butts?

A complete field MUST contain...

-The field's name. Composed of two words or phrases (three if you're pushing it, don't even think about four).
-What game (Mega Man or otherwise) the field comes from.
-The Field's primary core type.
-The field's multipliers (Core types, damage, recovery, experience). Primary core type gets an automatic x2 multiplier.
-The Robot (fan-made or otherwise) associated with the field.
-The Mecha (fan-made or otherwise) associated with the field.

Optional:

-A short description of what the field looks like (1-2 sentences is good).
-Music that plays during battle (link to YouTube or another video/music-sharing website).

Wise fwom youw gwave!

Anyone remember this thread? Just me? Aw, well. There isn't a chat tonight, so I may as well take the time to post a few headcannons I've had lying around for a while.

o Metal Man is a skilled mechanic, and Wily often tasks him with repairing the other Robot Masters after Rock roughs them up. He isn't very gentle, though, and his bedside manner is lacking...
o Heat Man and Crash Man are best buddies. They hang out a lot on and off duty, and Heat is usually the one to calm Crash down whenever he gets riled up.
o After the events of Mega Man 4, Dr. Cossack employs Skull Man as a sort of lab assistant/butler/bodyguard. Oh, and as a babysitter and playmate for Kalinka.
o Proto Man is more musical than he lets on. Besides his trademark whistle, he's composed quite a few tunes while wandering the Earth. Whenever he visits Cossack Citadel, he and the similarly-minded Toad Man get together for a jam session or two.
o Fire Man enjoys watching reruns of Gunsmoke and old John Wayne westerns.
o Plug Man's favorite anime is Cowboy Bebop, followed closely by Space Dandy.
o Top Man is a total nerd for 70's-80's pop music, and has a ton of old-school tape decks in his quarters in Wily Castle. Magnet Man regularly scrambles them with stray electromagnetic pulses, much to Top's dismay.
o Rock is a rabid FIFA fan, especially when World Cup season rolls around(he always roots for Japan, of course). Mega Man's Soccer is the result of Bomb Man spiking one of Rock's E-Tanks during a particularly wild victory party.
o Guts Man isn't as thick-headed as his brothers think. He actually has incredible knowledge in civil engineering and classical architecture.

I know this doesn't exactly pertain to RP, but it is a formatting question, so...

Does anyone know how to post pictures directly from the web? Without saving them to your computer, I mean.

Well I, for one, think the update is coming along nicely. This "Dark Spires" thing actually seems like a nice idea. Though they look a bit familiar. Almost like I know them from somewhere....wait...

Uh-oh.

@MetaKibSter: Hey, don't be a tuna-head. xColdxFusionx is a good guy, and this is no way to greet him after he's been gone for so long. Plus, I made this thread, so I'm a tad offended. >:(

wood-man Well…that certainly could have gone better.
disco Maybe if someone had stuck to the plan instead of running off and picking fights…
air-man Hmph. Of course you’d blame me for your own strategically blunders. It’s not like our “fearless leader” had much of a plan anyhow…
crystal-man Disco has a point, Air Man. Your arrogance is troubling.

I know it's past Halloween, but I just can't get Ghosts by Mystery Skulls out of my head! It's probably one of the catchiest techno-pop tunes I've heard in a long while. Fair warning, though: I'd rate this song T for a single F-bomb (though it's a bit hard to make out unless you're looking for it), implied dismemberment, and some major feels near the end. Oh, and spectral fire pompadours.

(OOC: Welcome back, Chaos!)

"Beg pardon sir, but-ack!" Print Man blurted as Knight's blow forcibly dismounted him from the Iron Horse. However, his left foot remained stuck in the stirrup, leaving the author-bot to be dragged about the chamber. Barley maintaining his grasp on his Vorpal Pen , Print Man let loose a stream of ink from the tip of the blade, tripping the pursing Knight and leaving him covered in the slimy black liquid. "Would someone-oof!-mind igniting-arugh!-that puddle?" Print Man stuttered amidst the flurry of kicks from the unruly Iron Horse.
