Mega’BigBoss’Man

Welcome back everyone, and thanks for taking another look with us. Much like the previous update threads in the past, we’ll be posting all our game updates, news, and patches in this 2020 thread. So without further ado, let’s get started!
2020 Game Update #1: Intro Field of Dreams

Some of you might’ve known this has been a long time coming; Dr. Wily and Dr. Cossack’s Intro Fields have been updated to better reflect and personalize their campaigns! Originally, all three doctors all started off on the Intro Field battlefield, all of them having… very very similar houses with varying paint jobs. This was a precautionary decision to avoid haphazardly making massive fields for temporary intro missions, but the team finally felt confident enough to lock down the decision and create custom fields. The Maniacal Hideaway Field is a sight to fear for any Mega Man fan, for here we find Dr. Wily’s Castle glooming in the distance, ominous lightning, decor, and all. The Wintry Forefront Field is a harsh subzero mountainscape located deep within the heart of another land, with its architectural tour de force being Dr. Cossack’s famous fortified Cossack Citadel. The prominent aspects of these stages is the vintage castle pixelart used from their original titles, but worth noting is the animation work that was required to bring these stages to life; the Maniacal Hideaway stage, for example, required an astounding 50 frames of animation!!! As mentioned prior, the Maniacal Hideaway and Wintry Forefront Fields will serve as the new Intro Fields for Dr. Wily and Dr. Cossack respectively. Along with this, some naming and music selections have been updated as well:

- Dr. Light’s Intro Field has been renamed to ‘Gentle Countryside’ to fit in line with the other naming conventions.
- Gentle Countryside now uses the MM3 Fortress Theme (Stage 3) instead of MM1’s Boss Track.
- Maniacal Hideaway now uses the MM4 Wily Fortress (Stage 1) theme instead of MM2’s Boss Track.
- Wintry Forefront now uses the MM4 Cossack Fortress (Stage 1) theme instead of MM4’s Boss Track.
- However, the Boss Tracks didn’t go to waste! When fighting a Robot Master stage, the Mecha Battle will play the traditional Robot Master theme. However, when facing the leading Robot Master, the Boss Track of their respective game will play. Quite fitting for boss music, ‘ey?
- The Chapter 4 Fusion Missions follow this same logic as well. Instead of their boss theme however, the track that plays is the grungy Mega Man 8 Midboss theme regardless of what campaign.
- As an obvious bonus, Maniacal Hideaway and Wintry Forefront can be selected as a profile background just like other unlocked fields.

I know it’s been a while, but we hope you’ve enjoyed the new visual and audio variety present for the graceful beginnings of our campaigns! Stay tuned, enjoy, and thanks for playing!
To keep up with updates as they happen, please take a glance at our Github commits page from time to time; we can't necessarily update everyone about every change, but every change is indeed labeled in this log for you to stay updated on.

...more to come?

Play Pokebox by clicking here, and you'll begin your adventure.
Hi everyone,

Some of you may have heard this project brought up once or twice before, but for those who haven’t, I’d like to welcome you to the wonderful world of… PokéBox!

Pokebox

The Wonderful World of PokéBox

I assume everyone on this planet knows what a Pokémon is, so half of that title should be very familiar! PokéBox is a fan-made web-app that simulates the biomes, relationships, breeding, evolution, and life-cycle of every single official Pokémon and form (plus a few others for fun). Like many many other Pokémon games, your goal is to document and study over one thousand of the creatures you’ve come to know -- and a few that you may know a little less. The game is idly played through PokéBoxes that act as habitats, and new types of Pokémon can visit depending on the appeals available through the environment you’ve created. In that regard, it’s up to the player’s experimentation to seek out and create suitable habitats for new visiting Pokémon to make their home, and in doing so indulge in an endlessly-addicting cycle to document more and more Pokemon and expand your coverage even further. And who knows what other undiscovered and Legendary Pokemon might make a Pokébox their home given they find it to their liking?

A Pokebox habitat in motion

Getting Started in Pokebox

PokéBox offers over a thousand Pokemon for you to seek out, whether they be from the grassroots of the Kanto region or the newly-discovered Galar Pokémon, and everything in between! Not all Pokemon are the same and many of them differ in colors and hues, lending itself to an absolutely vibrant ecosystem to flourish! Of course, just like in any animal ecosystems, there are many deep-rooted biological relationships that go just beyond elemental typing; certain Pokémon may flourish or flounder given the other Pokémon that may occupy their habitat, such as the Butterfree species that seeks out the sweet aromas of the Venusaur line of Pokémon. Of course, everyone must start off on humble beginnings; you’re given the choice of starters between Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander, Pikachu, and Eevee, though the Pokémon that come next are highly variable and may differ wildly based on your individual playstyle. Once you’ve grown used to your bearings, you can speed up the in-game daily cycle to fully maximize your efficiency. Of course, this is a momentous task for any one player to tackle in one session, so any time you exit the game, progress is saved and you can continue with your acquired progress at any moment. And much like Mega Man RPG Prototype, the game is entirely browser-based; you don’t have to download a single thing to get right up and get started! And get this -- you can even play the game on your phone!

Pokebox List

Some Background on PokéBox

The reason I’m bringing PokéBox is that it’s actually somewhat of a sister project to the MMRPG -- our head developer, Ageman20XX, develops the code and visuals for both projects and is shared between the two. PokéBox was developed in conjunction around the same time the MMRPG project was in active development last year, being a helpful side project for Ageman to get a chance to work with new code: as they were concurrently developed, development on PokéBox didn’t infringe whatsoever on time spent developing new content for Prototype, so don’t worry MMRPG fans!

Our Research

If you’ve been a little amiss without new Prototype content, and have had some extra free time during these isolated times, I’d highly recommend investing time in PokéBox to relax! There’s no better time too, as a new content update was just recently released adding the latest Pokemon from Generation 8.

As always, I offer my thanks for your time reading this post, and we’d love it if you wanted to share your thoughts on your playtime through the web-app’s official Reddit community or by posting in the comments below! Feel free to take a look at the FAQ page as well!

Have fun and stay safe!

Hi everyone!
It's been a while since I've done one of these threads, and just as long that we'd have had an entirely new feature to merit it, so please excuse me if this thread seems a little rusty... Some of you may have already noticed some of the new material in the past week, but regardless, we're highly excited to finally bring it out of beta and into the public leaderboard! Since you've already read the thread title, you certainly don't need me egging you on with hints, but this music might help set the tone somewhat...
New Mode Unlocked : Endless Attack!

Endless Attack Selection
Endless Attack Battle

After extensive testing by our staff and community, the new ‘Endless Attack’ mode has been officially released! As an adaptation of the endless modes of prior mainline Mega Man games, Endless Attack has you marathoning waves of Robot Master foes in an effort to reach your top score! Your records aren’t just for show, however; your high score will add to your Battle Points total on the leaderboard, and you may find yourself competing with the top scores of other competitively-minded players. Your own personal records will be recorded for your convenience in your profile, but when hovering over the display of 'Endless Attack', you can also see who has the global record out of all Prototype players! While your initial battles may be brisk, the robot opponents will progressively become more and more difficult as you delve further in, growing in numbers, stats, elements, and Starforce boosts! The Endless Attack mode can be found and played in the Challenge Missions tab, unlocked once you’ve progressed into the post-game. Whether you’re playing for fun, to best your own record, or to achieve the global record against every player, the Endless Attack mode supports every style of play; make sure you log in soon and let us know of any feedback or bugs on the new mode!
Mechanic Change: Hold your Pellets, Capsules, and Tanks!

Attack Pellet in Action

Balance changes have been made to the effects of various consumable items. When held, items that raise stats / energy will activate reactively based on the stats of the user; specifically, when the user is afflicted with a stat debuff. For example, holding an Attack Pellet and being struck with an attack-dropping move such as Bright Burst will cause the pellet to activate and neutralize the robot back to their original stat. However, the catch you'll have to be mindful of is that these items activate at a certain threshold: pellets will cover you the least but activate early, capsules will recover moderate drops and activate midway, and items like E-Tanks / W-Tanks will recover you fully but come at the cost of reacting only at desperate times. These factors are wildly different in comparison to the original implementation of these held items, so keep that in mind when updating your team!
Furthermore, you may have noticed that the leaderboards may have shifted around a bit. This is due to some noticeable changes in how items are calculated for BP. Originally, one would received a full amount of BP for each single item they owned. Now, a majority of BP earned is only gained from the first of that item; subsidiary amounts of that item award an additional +1 BP. This should alleviate the importance of items in calculations, and should make monotonous item-grinding a little less of a necessity for those interested in leaderboard playing.
A New Enemy Robot Master: Ground Man!

Move aside, Drill Man!

Ground Man, from 'Mega Man and Bass', has appeared suddenly as an enemy robot! He may not be playable just yet, but he'll still show up in Starforce / Bonus Fields in order to wreak havoc against any who stand in his way! His sprites originate from the Rockman FC project, and I handled some of his sprite editing and posing. He's not ready quite yet as a playable Robot Master, but as his sheet was already finished, I chose to quickly throw him in there as a bonus! If Ground Man happens to be your favorite Robot Master, I hope you enjoy getting to kick his can around!
As a side-note, Elec Man, Top Man, Dive Man, and Crystal Man have all had their sheets newly refurbished! A thanks to Rhythm_BCA, Brash Buster, and Beta Man for their work in the creation of these wonderful sheets! I'm obviously biased in saying so, but they all look so freakin' cool!

New Ability Get: Item Swap!

Item Swap Ability

As an added bonus, the new technical ability “Item Swap” has been added to the game! The name says it all; like other swap abilities, this move will allow you to swap a held item with a selected opponent. Note that when using this ability with a support robot, you can even trade your items between your fellow teammates! When facing an opponent with an item you may want, this move should be invaluable in your tactical play and fills a niche that hasn't been explored yet in regards to abilities.
Other miscellaneous changes include:
- Core Shield functionality has been revised. Shields last for 3 turns regardless of summon method. held cores give +1 duration to the relevant shield at end-of-turn.
- Swap Abilities now only increase their WE cost 50% upon each use (as opposed to 100%)
- Progress made on Endless Mode is now saved and recorded if you happen to exit or leave the Prototype window.
- Jewel Polish has been buffed to remove the Bass Crush and Crash Bomber abilities
- Hornet Chaser has been buffed to consume pellets / capsules / tanks immediately
- General stability updates and bug fixes

Other OTHER mechanics and bugs have also been addressed in this update, so make sure to take a look at our Github change log sometime!
Comments, questions, and general feedback about the update can be posted below this thread.
For bug reports, typos, and other issues please post in the Official Bug Report Thread.

Update Roundup
2019 Game Update #5: Mega Man 5 Robots Get New Alts
Wave Man you edgelord

Thanks to recent updates to our back-end admin panel, it's now much, much easier for us to make updates to robot stats, details, description, and so much more... including images! As such, we're finally able to release all the Mega Man 5 alt costumes we've been holding on to for so very, very long. All 8 robots get 3 new skins each, though only 4 of those robots are currently unlockable (Gravity Man, Wave Man, Gyro Man, and Star Man). You can purchase the new skins in Auto's Shop just like all the others, and we hope you enjoy this little appetizer while we work on the next big content update. Thank you all for your patience and as always, thank you for playing!
2019 Game Update #6: Interstellar Robot Special
Personally I prefer Galaxy Man
Personally I prefer Astro Man

This month's Rogue Star is Space-type and with it comes a handful of stellar new content. First up are new sprite sheets for Star Man done by our very own Brash Buster! Star Man's new sprites are great and his pallet is much more in-line with the other robots in the game. His sheet is also the first one were we've deliberately passed on using the old "bevel-shading" technique... and I think the results speak for themselves! Going forward, all future sprites will not be bevel-shaded and over the next few months all existing robots will have the shading removed too. This is a great thing and it will make future content and updates so much easier for the staff it cannot be overstated. Now, moving on we have a new ability and three new alts for Galaxy Man which is perfect because Galaxy Man is unlockable now! The Galaxy Bomb is a Space/Explode-type ability that creates a black hole behind the active robot, dealing damage to them or anyone who switches in at the end of every turn for five turns. This is our first damage-over-time ability and it was really fun to program! Last but certainly not least, we have the newly added Astro Man and his new ability plus three new alts - and yes, Astro Man is unlockable too! Astro Man's sprite sheet, like Galaxy Man's, was created by our very own MegaBossMan and all I can saw is wow. The victory pose on that guy is just out of this world! Astro Man's new ability - the Astro Crush - is a Space/Impact type that sacrifices a bit of the user's attack stat to deal heavy damage to all robots on the opponents side of the field! You can purchase all three of these robots in Kalinka's Shop as per usual, and their corresponding abilities can be found in Reggae's Shop a-la-carte if that's more your thing. Please take advantage of the Rogue Star in orbit for the rest of this month and we hope you all enjoy the new content! Thanks for playing!
2019 Game Update #7: Seven New Mega Man 2 Abilities
Move aside, MM1 line-up!

A grand total of seven new abilities have been added to the game, all of which are learned by the Mega Man 2 robot masters via level up, and several more abilities have been buffed or otherwise tweaked to better compliment the new abilities in this update. Finally, every single MM2 robot has a T1 and a T2 ability, just like the MM1 cast! (Yes, MM4 will get secondary abilities someday too, but for now let's just focus on the MM2 ones okay?). Many new mechanics are introduced via these abilities, so I hope you try them all out at least once! Please check the shop for a quick way to get these new abilities via zenny OR take the appropriate robot master into battle and simply level them up at least once (or simply defeat an enemy if at level 100 already). For a complete list of what has changed please see each new ability's description in the database, but to summarize each of the new abilities' effects: Metal Press (T2, break-all), Air Twister (T2, evade-n-counter), Quick Strike (T1, target-item-drop), Crash Avenger (T2, revenge-of-fallen), Flash Pulse (T1, volt-switch), Crash Burner (T2, slowing-burn), and Leaf Tall (T1, five-hits). Please also note the following abilities have also been tweaked or buffed in some way: Air Shooter, Quick Boomerang, Flash Stopper, Leaf Shield, and Blizzard Attack. Please enjoy these new abilities and please let us know if you have any questions or concerns in the appropriate channels. Thanks again!
Well, that about wraps it up for February’s round-up…. That is, if it wasn’t for the plethora of minor game updates to notice! Though they may be small individually, looking at all the edits done collectively really paints a grander picture worth checking out!

Other Miscellaneous Patch Notes
- The new reverse-module Reverse Module has been added to Kalinka’s ‘Parts’ Shop; when held by a robot, any and all stat changes done have the reverse effect!
- The Powerful Winds Robot, Air Man has been given a spiffy revamped sheet, courtesy of Brash Buster! Many of Brash’s new sheets are currently in queue and set to be uploaded soon, so keep an eye out! air-man
- The Prototype Time-Control Robot, Time Man now controls time with style! A thank you to Rhythm_BCA for his work! time-man
- The Slick Sliding Robot, Oil Man joins Time Man as another Powered Up-exclusive robot to look slick! And… Rhythm_BCA did this one too? You can’t stop this guy! oil-man
- The Armored Flame Robot, Heat Man has also done a new sheet done; if you have any complaints, you can send your frustrations over to me for this one. heat-man
- Bevel shading has been removed from each and every sprite sheet. If you’re unaware of what this is, it’s too late to notice now :P
- Rain Flush’s base damage now always hits for 50 damage points, barring stage / damage multipliers.
- Prices in Auto’s Alts shops have been dropped.
- Extra stat values for Final Destination opponents have been removed for the sake of balance
- Blizzard Attack and Star Crash have been slightly buffed
- Veteran Bonuses for BP calculation have been readjusted to account for how often an user visits
-The levels in each campaign have been considerably adjusted; Dr. Light’s campaign can now feasibly be completed in one independent run, while Drs. Wily and Cossack’s campaigns have been designed to become “Medium” and “Hard” campaign renditions, respectively
- Increment buttons have been added to the shop buying / selling procedures, allowing users to handle items in bulk rather than individually
- General Stability Updates
- 768 hours since last Rain Flush Nerf
okay everyone who’d like to see the shortest ending monologue of all time

Haha, I suppose I’m obligated at least say something in this thread... We seemed to have had a positive response towards these new abilities and robots, so we’re all certainly glad to find that the Community at large continues to be engaged in the work we’re putting out! In fact, I personally was so super-duper glad that I forgot to post this round-up on time, eheh…. So there’s not much point hinting at anything when you all know that our Rogue Star’s boosted element for this month is Electric-core!Of course, there’s still the mystery of the ever-so-bated Electric-themed Robot Masters to be released through the duration of March…. But my lips are sealed on the identity of the newcomers this time, so your best guess is as good as anyone else’s! But, as with life, speculation is just what you make of it! met

Sooooo apparently, ever since we released the winter Robot Master trio, a polar vortex has struck over half of the United States and cold temperatures have rapidly seeped in. We at MMRPG have chosen to own up to our actions and take responsibility. Due to this obvious correlation, we have also elected not to release any new Space, Time, or Flame robots ever again; sorry but I’d like to get to work on time without the risk of the space-time continuum snapping.

This format may be a little unfamiliar to some of you, but to get the disclaimer out of the way now, there is the chance that there’s no new news for you more up-to-date users here. These specific threads going forth will act as a ‘roundup’ of sorts, chronicling some of the generally more mechanical changes subtly published throughout the course of the month for convenience and cataloging. Of course, entirely new aspects of the game merit their own separate thread as we see fit, but these round-ups will serve as a nice compromise towards disclosing a more traditional patch list. “But wait!”, you cry out. “What’s the difference between this thread and the existing Update Megathread?!" Well, to answer that question, I’d like to ask that you direct your attention towards this inconspicuous image that’ll explain absolutely everything.

Update Roundup
2018 Game Update: Super Blocks and Foamy Bubbles: (2018/12/30)
Super Blocks and Foamy Bubbles
Super Blocks and Foamy Bubbles

A new mechanic has been introduced to the battle system and several old abilities have been upgraded to take advantage of it. The mechanic has to do with attachments (the things that abilities create and "attach" to you in battle like shields, auras, and buster charges) and has some really fun consequences. It is now possible for an ability to attach something to a target robot or to the field itself. That means an attachment like the Leaf Shield can follow the user to the bench, while an attachment like the Super Block can remain in-place and benefit the next robot to occupy that position on the field even if the summoner is disabled. Several abilities have had their attachments made "static" like this including; Super Arm, Oil Shooter, Bubble Spray, Ice Breath, and Disco Fever. Other abilities revised in this patch include Field Support and Mecha Support, both of which are far more useful now IMO. This patch also includes a few small bug fixes and small tweaks to campaign and UI, but overall the focus was on the aforementioned abilities. Please check the Ability Database on the website for revised ability descriptions and let us know if you have any questions. Enjoy!
2019 Game Update #1: Let Sidequests be Side Quests!: (2019/01/05)
Let Sidequests be Side Quests!
Let Sidequests be Side Quests!

Starforce was always meant to be a casual, post-game sidequest that players could opt-in to. Unfortunately, my overemphasis on balancing throughout the years morphed it into something else entirely until it was overbearing and loathsome. While a lot of its other issues have been fixed by now, mandating the collection of stars during the campaign was probably my biggest sin. Well... that ends today! Collecting stars is now a 100% optional side-quest that is not in any way required to progress through the campaign. In fact, stars can only be found in the optional Star Fields chapter now, making the campaign significantly less frustrating to get through. I'm aware of the effects this will have on the leaderboard, but given the fact that another leaderboard / battle point reboot is imminent I'm not too worried. Now then, what else does this patch include?
2019 Game Update #2: The Great Battle Point Reboot of 2019 (2019/01/12)
The Great Battle Point Reboot of 2019
The Great Battle Point Reboot of 2019

As part of a major update to the game's mechanics, all battle points and leaderboard standings have been reset and recalculated. Your score is no longer based on your turn count in missions, but rather the progress you've made in the overall game and the items, robots, abilities, etc. that you've collected. Please check the "Points" tab of your leaderboard profile for a detailed breakdown of where all your points are coming from. Additionally, you can check the Item Database page on the website for the BP values of every item in the game. All details and specific point values aside, the main takeaway from this update should be this; It is no longer required or necessary to OHKO every robot in a single turn in order to climb the leaderboard and doing so will affect nothing but how much zenny you earn from missions. Let us know what you think and/or any questions you have in the #game-discussion Discord channel or right here in the community. Thank you all for playing!
2019 Game Update #3: Minor Tweak to Reggae's Weapon Shop (2019/01/13)
Minor Tweak to Reggae’s Weapon Shop
A new "Core Gauge" has been added to Reggae's Shop that makes it easier to keep track of how many of each core type have been sold to Reggae. This is important as *all* elemental abilities in Reggae's Shop now require you to have sold him the relevant core types (a mechanic which was previously reserved for the Shot/Buster/Overdrive abilities). Tier 1 abilities for an element will start to appear after you've sold at least 3, Tier 2 will appear after at least 6, and Tier 3 after you've sold at least 9 (at which point the gauge will simply show a star icon). Not all abilities have Tier 2 or Tier 3 weapons (yet), but they function the same as any other type for consistency (and to facilitate future content, of course). This addition is more geared towards newer players or those still in the middle of the campaign, but some veterans may find it useful as well. Thanks again for all the testing and bug-reports from yesterday's BP reboot, and don't forget to vote in our new robot master poll!
2019 Game Update #4: Rogue Stars Have Entered Orbit (2019/01/19)
Rogue Stars Have Entered Orbit
A new event mechanic referred to as "Rogue Stars" has been introduced to the game and is available as soon as you complete the main campaign. Rogue Stars appear every weekend, come in every elemental type, and last for 48 hours before disappearing until the next event. Rogue Stars act as a kind of global Starforce, granting all core-matched robots in the game with a huge power boost for a limited time. The element of orbiting Rogue Stars will change from month-to-month, starting out as Freeze-type for this month but changing to something new in February, and then again in March, and so-on. Take this opportunity to level-up and power-up your winter robots if you haven't already, and *maybe* if they try hard enough they can help you win some player battles. Enjoy!
Other Miscellaneous Minor Patch Notes….
- Each doctor has a custom "current chapter" marker now, showing where they are in their campaigns
- All three doctors have had spiffy new sprites created by Rhythm_BCA and they all look fantastic and way better than before
- Each of the doctor's campaigns can now be completed *independently* of each other, no more going back-and-forth if you don't want to
- Popups for when a doctor unlocks a new chapter, better popups for a doctor completes their campaign and for when they unlock their bonus chapters
- Miscellaneous bug fixes and UI tweaks to mission select screens
- Veteran players may see a lot of popups for the bonus chapters *and I'm sorry*
- The demo’s kill switch has been flicked and is no longer accessible. I’m sorry for the two masochists out there who mourn its loss, but based on Community public opinion it only made for a poor first impression to Prototype
- Bug fix applied on switching tabs during battle crashing. If this issue persists, let us know
- Custom dialogue has been implemented for each doctor’s Chapter 3 battles for narrative clarity
- Support Robots (Roll, Disco, Rhythm) can be unlocked alternatively through completing Intro Field twice
- Bosses may drop cores now when hit with super-effective weaponry
- Robot Admin Panel now instated for convenient uploading and editing (For the staff only, obviously-- Sorry everyone!)
- General Stability Updates
- 24,048 hours since last Rain Flush Nerf
That should conclude January 2019’s monthly round-up! We worked extra hard this month to squeeze out every fresh bit of content we could, so we can only hope that this serves to enrich your Prototype experience! We’ll do our best to keep up this momentum going into February, though what modifications we’ll make only the stars may unveil!

Check out our Github page to find the latest updates, no matter how minute they are, for all of you budding programmers.

Comments, questions, and general feedback about the update can be posted below this thread.

Do you ever wish you, as a valued member of our community, could directly adjust the development of this game while doing absolutely none of the work? Well that’s actually called supervising and that’s my only job on staff, so please don't steal my livelihood. Nevertheless, outside input is critical towards the inner processes of game development, and it has been a while since we’ve opened the floodgates for some community input, so may I formally announce

dr-lightdr-cossack The Robot Master Poll! crystal-man stone-man flame-man tomahawk-man junk-man shade-man tengu-man grenade-man burner-man cold-man concrete-man magma-man galaxy-man chill-man sheep-man block-man
While you undoubtedly bask at the sheer creativity of my awe-inspiring title, please allow me to further spell out the workings and origin of this poll. As many of you may have seen in the past month, the Prototype has made the groundbreaking decision to finally, finally add new playable Robot Masters from Mega Man 5 and beyond. However, with a long plethora of automaton ne'er do wells in the history of the Mega Man Classic franchise, there are simply just too many potential Robot Masters that the Prototype could add to its growing playable roster. As such, we’ve chosen to continue confounding our own development mores by allowing YOU to voice your interest on who to add next!
The options in the poll consist of every currently antagonistic Robot Master from 1992’s MM5 all the way up to the newest recruits from 2018’s Mega Man 11, including those who are still entirely unfinished (these unfinished choices are labeled with asterisks, and as you may expect will take much longer to actively realize beforehand.) You may also vote for multiple options, though do note that voting for every single option is arguably idiotic and we’d ask that you please refrain from being that guy. The last note that I’d like to make is that while your votes will be heavily used to gauge interest, they are by no means set in stone; ultimately, we are asking for your input, not your ruling. While I don’t want to de-emphasize the utter importance of your vote, these choices do still fall under our volition and the considerations and woes of developmental feasibility, so the very most popular vote may not exactly be the very next robot to come in. But I digress; the staff will be diligently observing the results of this poll to help shape our mindsets and determine the most favored of robots here, and I’m personally bated with enthusiasm on how your decisions will influence the line-up in the near future! ’Twas the night before Christmas, yes so dark a night,
That the only illumination found was in the Starforce’s light.
The users were stirring and stirring, with thoughts of Smash,
Awaiting that red-clad man with his oh-so iconic moustache.
Yet little did they know, and little did they see;
That there was a group sneaking presents under the Christmas tree.
“Go, Shiver! Go, Doc! Move as fast as a spear!”
“Go, Spinstrike! Go, Brorman--... wait these guys aren’t even here.”
“Rhythm, Boss, quickly, as gracefully as Flamingoes!
“...And, please promise to stop breaking everyone’s windows…”
What does this mean?! Who could it be?!
Seeing you’re on this site, it’s probably Adrian and the MMRPG team!
And so on the entirety of Prototype, they had this to bestow:
Blizzard Man, Freeze Man, and Frost Man, a quite season-appropriate trio.
There was also new Roll alts and mechanic changes, how all so swell,
When suddenly everyone could hear Adrian yell,
“I’ve given you all your Mega Man 5, no longer may you sneer;
Happy Christmas to all, expect the next update in like another year!!!”

You know, in retrospect the Christmas poem idea maybe wasn’t such a great idea. Maybe it just goes on too long for a news post intro, or maybe it’s not bad enough? Granted, I excuse myself as Christmas is essentially the season of being lame, what with cheesy specials or ugly sweaters or socks for presents…. But, err, let’s move on to what you actually came for and forget this ever happened, cool?

Update Overview
More New Playable Robots Have Also Arrived!
Blizzard Attack
Freeze Cracker Gif
Frost Wave Gif

As with our previous update in the previous December 2018 thread, we’ve continued with adding even more Robot Masters to the Prototype! This time, we’ve focused in on Robot Masters that’ll charmingly fit in thematically with the Winter season, those being Blizzard Man, Freeze Man, and Frost Man. Despite sharing the same core-type, all three of these Robot Masters vary wildly from each other from their statistical make-up to their designs, hopefully bringing enough variety to keep each distinct and interesting. These three had their sheets done by MMX100, myself, and Brash Buster respectively, so special thanks to my fellow sheet-makers on the staff for their work. Oh, and as you’d expect by now, all three of these robots do bring their own techniques into Prototype as well, and each works intrinsically different.
- Blizzard Attack works functionally different than its appearance in Mega Man 6, performing here as more of a Rain Flush-esque AoE weapon that damages each individual robot on the opponent’s side. Though obviously it may not be your go-to for individual battles, it’s a great effort towards offering middling damage against a wide array of opponents.
- Freeze Cracker is a dual-core Freeze / Explode attack that explodes on contact with its opponent, offering a type mix-up that’s not been found prior naturally thus far. However, its primary gimmick is based upon who you target; targeting an active robot may just offer selective damage, but targeting a bench robot will instead cause the projectile to split and scatter, causing adjacent robots to be struck by the debris as well!
- Finally, Frost Wave is a more traditional offering for versatility, being a series of ice shards that races towards your opposition to inflict freeze-core damage. As an added benefit, this technique slightly lowers the opponent’s attack stat as well, which is certainly always welcome.
It certainly took quite a bit of effort on everyone’s part here to release these series of robots before the holidays fully kicked in, but we figured that continuing to add these robots would be a welcome way to wrap up this year, especially with the recent series of December updates introducing a wide plethora of new additive content. As always, look towards Kalinka’s shop for purchasing the new aforementioned Robot Masters and their abilities. With this, we think Prototype has a strong foundation now for introducing further new content for the next duration in 2019…. Foundation. Foundation. Foundation… I feel like I’m forgetting some architecture thing…. Never mind.
Reduced Prices and Loyalty Discounts: Kalinka’s Gone Crazy!
Kalinka’s Shop
Basic supply and demand dictates market value, and since we’ve been adding a boatload of new Robot Masters, Kalinka’s been forced to drop the default prices of Robot Master data, from 48,000 Zeni to a massive drop of 32,000 Zeni. However, that’s not all; loyalty discounts are also available to high-level customers, meaning purchase price will continue to plummet based upon your prior shop history. It’s a minor update to the shop system all things considered, but nonetheless I imagine it’ll do massive wonders for users who may be a bit behind in Zeni total. As such, new Robot Masters are no longer an exclusive right for the bourgeoisie, for now everyone can own their own brand-new, spiffy Robot Masters for a fair price. And since we haven’t even come close to adding every robot possibly available yet, rest assured that you won’t have to panic over not being able to purchase new material in the future. Please feel free to let us know any general feedback you have on any of the fine-tuning and balancing done recently on the shop system.
Go Beyond-- Easily! Maxing Out Your Robots!
Look how jacked these boys are!
There’s no doubt that Prototype has its fair amount of grind, which while often necessary in RPGs, is somewhat dated and may be considered poor game design overall. The specific grind being addressed here is the stat-grind, where after a robot reaches level 100, players can continue to strengthen their robots by downloading defeated data to gradually increase their stats. This feature debuted with playable characters capping out at 9999 in each stat, though obviously this was arduous and made each individual robot… well, less individual. Stat limits were imposed and were based on the robot’s existing base stat data, but even this was perhaps too gradual and tedious to not feel inconsequential. Now, level 100 robots receive 100x the knockout bonus, so fully-maxing out your characters can be done in a matter of a few short battles! This decision was again tied to the addition of new playable Robot Masters, as a slew of new Robot Masters meant the chore of extra grinding and… blegh. Features like this should be far more accessible to a wide majority of players rather than a select dedicated few, and so forth greater focus is placed on your own individual strategies and not because one player could simply shill out more time to make their Robot Masters of greater use. We will continue to look into refining Prototype and making certain features far more accessible to the entirety of our playerbase.
A Familiar Modern Look For The Helpful Lab Assistant, Roll!
Roll’s New Alt

2018 brought with it, finally, a long-awaited entirely new Mega Man game, Mega Man 11! While new Robot Masters from the new title may be a long ways off for Prototype unfortunately, we did decide to incorporate Roll’s latest outfit introduced in the game. While it does share similarities with her MM8 outfit, there are slight alterations, namely in the form of that oh-so adorable hood. This appearance, like the rest of her sheets, were done by community moderator and contributor, Rhythm, who as usual never fails to impress with his output. Alongside the 11 look, Roll will also have a blue ‘Mega’ alteration of that same outfit, as is tradition with her alts. These alts can be purchased in Auto’s shop after obtaining the Dress Codes item, in the same fashion as every alt in the game. We hope you enjoy this fun little added bonus. :)

Charting the Stars -- Explore the Star Fields!
Stars Chapter
As a final treat for the year and in the lead-up to New Years Eve, we've added a new feature to the Prototype that makes hunting for Starforce so much easier and more convenient it's almost maddening we didn't think of it sooner. A new tab labelled "Stars" will now appear in the mission select screen once you've beaten the main campaign and unlocked the post-game "bonus" chapters. The new "Star Fields" chapter will randomly generate missions for any field or fusion stars you don't already have to help you on your quest to collect all 1024. Because these are post-game missions, they reward zenny instead of battle points and are there for the sole purpose of collecting new stars for those who opt to take advantage of it. The robots found in these missions start at Level 50 but grow stronger as you inch closer to 100% completion, making some of these the toughest non-player fights in the game. In addition to the new Star Fields chapter there are a two other small changes to the bonus chapters. Firstly, the "Bonus" tab has been renamed "Random" (as that's what it really is) and both randomized missions within now have a full eight targets to fight (so its easier to encounter new bots). Secondly, the zenny received from Player Battles has been greatly increased and should now be be worth the extra effort needed to clear them. Okay, that's it - enjoy!
Conclusion
In summation, this update has added Blizzard Man, Freeze Man, Frost Man, a new Roll look, revised shop prices, and increased knockout bonuses. For a closing update crafted as one last Holiday reverie before the year’s end, I believe it’s a good mark to end on. I’m well-aware that 2018 may not have been the most developmentally-filled year, but nonetheless I must thank those of you still sticking with us or continuing to join; it is through this community’s united passion that we continue to grow and aspire to continually improve what doesn’t, and does, work. Thus, I cannot stress how thankful all of us in the staff are that you’ve merely chosen to play this game, and keep entertaining this passion project of ours. And while I’m biased as a moderator, I absolutely enjoy coming in every day to participate with all of you in the chatroom and community; you guys help keep all of this fun! ^_^
….. That being said, I’m really trying to wrap this whole thing up in a nice bow, but there’s still that feeling I’m missing something here…. Is this just some extreme case of writer’s block…. Block…. Block…. hmmmmmmm…..

Not even 12 days away and yet, here I am talking to all of you again. In the span of this past month, we’ve already had more updates than we had in the entirety of this year. Sure, the Scrooges among you may be quick to believe that’s a result of poor scheduling more than anything else, but isn’t it more likely… that it’s the magic of the holidays coming into full bloom?

Please don’t answer that.

Nonetheless, I doubt the majority of you reading into this thread are all that interested in my opening flavor text and prattle, so I should probably get into the meat of this general mechanics update as quick as possible. Though, if you frequent the site and somehow missed this, please also remember to check out the December 2018 New Robots Update as well; chances are, the fun new playable MM5 stuff the community so eagerly wants at every waking second would be found there instead. This thread, on the other hand….

Update Overview
Mechanics Update

To the uninitiated among you, this may simply be a regular screenshot. Nothing particularly out of the ordinary. But, let’s take another second here… Magnify! Enhance!

HE’S SO MAWD

That’s right! Dr. Light has been made ANGRIER-!!! ….. Wait no that’s not it at all. Sorry… . >_>

There it is

As you can evidently see, there are now… odd triangles located above Splash Woman’s attack stat? Not to mention the same specified slots exist for the defense and speed stats as well. And obviously, it’s worth noting that this is not only applicable to Splash Woman, but is system-wide between all of the combatants in the Prototype. So, let’s throw all this forced mystery aside and allow me to clarify what exactly is happening mechanically.
To the Next Stage!

Speed Mode
Thunder Beam Raising Attack

For some further context here, originally stat increases to the game were based on hard numbers and percentages; though this seemed relatively rudimentary and harmless at the time, basing all stat increases on hard-coded numbers would often grow to become either wildly obsolete in the late game or become too inconsistent and invariably fluid to be relied upon. As such, for years now, a change to the way we handle stat increases was kept at the forefront of our minds often, though was ultimately left to the backburner. However, taking a minor pinch of inspiration from the acclaimed Pokémon franchise (as we’ve certainly been known for doing time and time again), stat increases are now built upon the foundation of ‘Stages’ rather than abject numerical value.

Now, even to those of you who have played Pokémon beforehand, the concept of ‘Stages’ may still be foreign to you. Essentially, when using a move that directly tampers with the stats of an opponent, rather than the afflicted target lose an abject numerical value, they basically drop down a stage. In essence, “The target’s attack / defense / harshly fell!” Along with adding a new layer of consistency to techniques that relied heavily on percentages, we feel that this is a much more concise way of displaying a technique’s results to rookie players, while developing the sense of Prototype being a game rather than some routine number simulator. Stages go up through a system of five different levels, either towards the positive stat-buffing end or to the negative stat-decreasing end, and will be found in typical techniques or abilities that increase your stats or decrease the opponent’s stats. This also has an interesting effect on Rhythm’s signature stat-swapping abilities; rather than directly swapping the numerical values of two robot’s stats (which to be frank was awfully annoying and pestuous), stat-swapping will instead swap the stages between the two robots instead. In short, this new stat system will virtually affect a wide majority of the abilities found in Prototype, and massively shake up existing strategies.

Though I apologize if this wasn’t exactly the new content you were looking to find, this was nevertheless a technical change we essentially had to make at some point in our development. The way stat-handling was done before was simply counter-intuitive to a lot of general good game design, and this should hopefully strengthen a lot of underused abilities, while balancing some portions of the game that were far too stat-reliant to be even remotely fair, and thus fun, to the player. Of course, your feedback is absolutely imperative to our development, so if there are areas with these changes that you feel need improvement, please feel free to discuss it with us. As is, I’ve given you enough of a simplified and general overview, so below here’s a list of specific patch notes you may be looking for to see what this specially addresses and alters in matters of abilities.
STAT BREAK ABILITIES
- Spark Shock does damage and lowers target's attack stat
- Bright Burst does damage and sharply lowers target's attack stat (type reversed to Electric/Time)
- Bubble Bomb does damage and removes any attack stat buffs from the target (type reversed to Water/Explode)

- Hard Knuckle does damage and lowers target's defense stat
- Rising Cutter does damage and sharply lowers target's defense stat
- Drill Blitz does damage and removes any defense stat buffs from the target (is now Earth/Missile type, only 2 drills)

- Time Arrow does damage and lowers target's speed stat
- Time Slow does damage and sharply lowers target's speed stat (does damage and no longer requires charging)
- Ice Slasher does damage and removes any speed stat buffs from the target

- Shadow Blade does damage and lowers the target's highest stat
- Laser Trident does damage and removes any positive stat buffs from the target
- Slash Claw does damage and worsens any negative stat debuffs on the target

- Attack/Defense/Speed Break abilities harshly lower stat of one robot
- Attack/Defense/Speed Assault abilities lower stats of all enemy robots
STAT BOOST ABILITIES
- Thunder Beam does damage and raises the user's attack stat
- Oil Slider does damage and raises the user's speed stat

- Fire Storm still has three levels are charge but damage reduced
- sharply raises defense only after conclusion of uninterrupted combo
- Atomic Fire still has three levels are charge but damage reduced
- sharply raises attack only after conclusion of uninterrupted combo

- Attack/Defense/Speed Boost abilities sharply raise stat of one robot
- Attack/Defense/Speed Support abilities raise stats of all ally robots
STAT MODE ABILITIES
- Energy Mode harshly lowers own Attack, Defense, Speed to fully recover life energy
- Attack Mode harshly lowers Defense and Speed in exchange for a maxed-out attack stat
- Defense Mode harshly lowers Attack and Speed in exchange for a maxed-out defense stat
- Speed Mode harshly lowers Attack and Defense in exchange for a maxed-out speed stat
STAT SWAP ABILITIES
- All swapping abilities now double their weapon energy requirements after each use
- All swapping abilities automatically target opponent, cannot be aimed, however...
- Support bots can aim the swapping abilities freely and at their own teammates
NOTES
- Stat boosts/breaks are now guaranteed (no more RNG here)
- Consumable stat items are stronger, pellet sharply raises stat and capsule drastically raises stat
- Holdable stat items are nerfed a bit, they raise given stat by one stage per turn but only up to max (5)
- Several other abilities had power/accuracy/descriptions tweaked to rebalance
- Energy boost per level-up has been reduced to +1% (other stats still get +5%)
Two New Robot Masters Added!

Wave Man and Gravity Man

wave-man gravity-man
It hasn’t necessarily been a secret these past couple of days, but I suppose it hasn’t been officially addressed: Wave Man and Gravity Man from Mega Man 5 have joined the playable roster! As with the previous Robot Masters, they bring their signature abilities -- Water Wave and Gravity Hold respectively-- to the battlefield, and are dynamically illustrated by our very own Sean Adamson / MetalMan. If you’re unaware of the new method to unlock them, please check out the aforementioned December update thread. While I expect many of you have likely added these guys to your collection already, this is now the official decree. Currently, the plan is to continue adding more and more completed playable Robot Masters when we can, so we can continue to build upon the bricks and foundation that Prototype’s established. Please stay tuned for further updates throughout these coming weeks, and we, collectively as the staff, hope you enjoy the new ‘bots!

Hello, everyone! As I understand it, apparently it's been a while since our last--
yeesh

--..... Hoo boy. Well, this is nothing but not surprising at this point. Of course, it is the season of giving, so it just wouldn't be entirely fair if we left you with absolutely nothing....

But, what do we do? What could we possibly do that you, our members, would really enjoy? Hmmm....

Hrrrmmm..... .....

Oh! I wonder.... Where're The Robots?!

Update Overview
Gyro Man? Star Man?

Wait a minute.... Gyro Man?! Star Man?! What are you guys doing on that side of the field?!

Splash Woman? Slash Man?

Splash Woman? Jewel Man? SLASH MAN?! You guys too?! What insanity!!!

Magic Man

Oh, Magic Man. You're here too. Neat.

New Playable Robots Have Finally Arrived!
New Playable Robots Have Finally Arrived!
That's right. Farcical silliness aside, these six robots have finally arrived in Prototype -- for the usage of you, the player. Previously, these robots were only ever present on Starforce-strengthened fields or in the special post-game Bonus Field, and only to be fought as enemies. However, due to the dutiful work of our Main Administrator and Head Programmer, Adrian Marceau, these robots can now be utilized and controlled as player characters to further fortify the mechanical armies of Drs. Light, Wily, and Cossack. All of these robots also come with the added bonus of having their signature weapons on-hand; after all, they just wouldn't be the same without attacking in their trademark style, right? Once unlocked, these six robots all start at level 99 and have only one experience point left before achieving their maximum level. In this way, players are not forced to have to grind to make use of these 'bots, thus allowing them to be automatically used right from the get-go. Of course, even without that hassle, it's another thing going through the process to unlock them ..... Or is it?

A Convenient New Way to Unlock Robot Masters
Buying Robots
Previously, the only way to unlock extra Robot Masters was to scan them, buy their fields, rearrange a doctor's fields, and then fight them in a 1v1 battle with only neutral attacks. As one might expect, this grew.... confusing and tedious for players, especially new players. As a result, you can now directly buy robot data from Kalinka, allowing for the player to utilize them right from the start! Once the Legacy Code is unlocked, Prototype members are able to buy extra Robot Masters in an insanely more convenient fashion, foregoing having to go through the extensive efforts visually into crafting 8 separate fields and Mechas. Currently, however, only Robot Masters with existing weapons have been implemented into the shop; you may expect new Robot Master weapons and with it, the Robot Masters themselves, to continue to appear later down the line. There are two remaining caveats with Kalinka's Robot Master data system though: one, Robot Masters must still be scanned wherever in order to be downloaded and purchased from the shop. You can't necessarily download that data without it existing, after all. Second, the prices may be considered steep at 48,000 Zeni per each individual robot. Luckily, those with not much Zeni have ways to pick up some easy cash, as you may have noticed... after all, it is in the above screenshot.

Showing Off Your Stars!
Showing Off Your Stars!
As a result of her growing studies, Kalinka has been depended increasingly on scanning stars for the sake of furthering her research. Due to this, she’s asked the player doctors to bring in their stars whenever able for scanning, and she’s offered an incentive to get them to do so. Stars can now be scanned for trade of large sums of Zeni, providing a benefit to Zeni-struggling players out there. While previously stars could be sold for cash, this has been reevaluated; asking the player to sell their hard-earned Starforce, even for high prices, was unfair in retrospect. In contrast to this, scanning your stars will not cause the star to be lost from your collection for the sake of convenience (there’s that word again!) It’s worth noting that the stars’ price will often vary on the condition and compact quality of the star itself, and as such fused fields in particular tend to offer higher prices compared to regular stars. There’s also another direct advantage to the process of scanning your stars, as scanning is essentially recyclable. Stars can be scanned up to multiple times for continued cash, after a fair amount of reprieve and time has passed for the star to be scanned again. As such, while having a plethora of stars can certainly speed up the process, users with smaller samples of stars can make effective use of this process too.

New Enemy Robots to Encounter!

plant-man sword-man frost-man cold-man
The more astute of users may have already noticed, but since it hasn’t been officially been addressed on site yet, four entirely new Robot Masters have been added to fight against. One day, near or far, these Robot Masters may as well join your efforts in battle, but as is, they still vehemently hate and want to fight you as enemies usually tend to do. You know where to find them.
Oh, and you may have noticed other Robot Masters have been reinvigorated and given fresh new looks! A majority of these are likely robots you currently own, so feel free to show them off sometime! A special thanks to Brash Buster for his contributions in this area, as well as his popsicle-loving Frost Man sheet as well; only you could make them look so cool! Be sure to look out for new Robot Master sheets in the future!

Welcome New Community Moderator, Shiver!
Shiver!
Those of you who frequent the leaderboard might recognize this face: Shiver is now part of our Moderation staff! Shiver joined the Prototype in September 2016, and has ever since been an active frequenter of our community, even in times of activity drought. Though there were plenty of great candidates to consider, Shiver’s been nothing but a great help ever since their original arrival (not to mention a great night-shift member: gotta love timezones, huh!) Suffice to say, I feel I speak for the moderation team [Rhythm, Adrian, TheDoc, and I] when I say you’re welcomed into the staff with open arms. Your assistance will no doubt be of great value to not only our team, but to everyone in our community! No pressure, Shiver! :P
As always, we’d like to thank you for continuing to play this passion project of ours and engage in this community, even when admittedly content can tend to drip out rather slowly. We hope you enjoy all of the new content, and as always, let us know what you think. We can’t know what to improve without knowing where to improve.

Since creating these threads have become somewhat of an annual tradition and I've only got about 30~ minutes until the clock strikes 12, I'd like to metaphorically set that torch and wish you all a Merry Christmas! Unless you're not a Christmas guy, in which case you've forced me to rephrase my entire approach so I'll wish you a Happy Holidays as well! And you know what, while we're wishing stuff and I don't feel the need to create two threads, how about I wish you a Happy New Years as well since that's about to come up? As always, I'll delight the notion of using the comments section of this thread to spread your thanks as well! And of course, let's please our corporate overlords by bragging!!! bringing up what you've received and gave whenever you give and receive! I've unfortunately no presents to hand out to any of you, besides my mere presence, but it's the thought that counts...? I'd also like to present the idea, since the New Year's is coming, of suggesting that if you have nothing to write, you could possibly give a nice overview of all the crazy shenanigans and personal summary of the past year if you so desired? Or possibly talk about those treasured Christmas memories of yours, like the one where you got that thing that you so desired, or the one where everyone told you you'll probably shoot your eye out. Or hey, that new Star Wars is a thing, you probably watched one of those, riiiiiiight?

As you can tell I'm trying to stretch this detailing out so it isn't a really short thread, but you know what, it's not really so nice to stretch out that feeling of the joys that the Holidays bring. So instead, to give you my adieu, Merry Christmas to you all, and a Happy New Year's for you!

Alright, excusing my poor taste in naming topics in the Community, this thread'll obviously serve as an area for requesting one of your threads to be moved over to the locked section of the Community, and thus will no longer be commented on nor will it be put into the common eye, seeing as users lack the ability to remove their own threads. The most notable piece of guideline that I'd like to bring up is that you must be the original poster of that thread, you cannot request a thread to be locked if you are not the one who created that specific thread. Frankly I'd figure that'd also be pretty obvious, but at the very least it's set in stone. You can request your threads through the comment section below, and I implore the other users that out of respect please do not actively search out a thread someone's suggested if they are clearly not comfortable with you doing so. Do also note that your request will not be fulfilled automatically by the MMRPG Staff and that you be patient, we can't always be on 24/7 to oblige everything. With all that being said however, I hope that this thread does provide useful to those of you who need it, and while I don't expect this thread to be necessarily popular as it is situational, it does help to fill out the fact that users can't currently do so by themselves without mod assistance. Thank you for reading!

Ooh! I also forgot to mention that if you also need to move a thread to a different section of the Community (IE General to Roleplay, etc), you can also do so by posting below and putting in a request to move a thread to the area you feel most proper.

Short-version: You see the comment space down there? If you need a thread locked, go ahead and post below to request doing so. If you need a thread moved to a different section of the Community, go ahead and post below to request doing so.

Overall, this thread'll probably stick out seeing out as there aren't usually threads based on recent Mega news (Which is ironic, seeing as how we're a primarily Mega Man-based Community .-.), but I figured that the announcement of an animated Mega Man series being developed by Man of Action Studios was a solid enough point to create a thread for! What are your overall thoughts on the announcement of the animated series? How do you feel about the revealed art? From what I've seen, the reactions to the revealed art and synopsis have been.....I'm going to call it divisive, yeah? Anyway, I feel like I wouldn't be able to describe it effectively myself, so why not have the actual source speak for itself?

"Aimed at kids 6 to 9, as well as their parents who grew up loving the videogames, the animated series will feature exciting new technologies and robots, as well as the introduction of Mega Man’s alter-ego, Aki Light, a normal, upbeat, schoolboy robot. When activated, his skin re-forms – in a flurry of computer code and visual pyrotechnics – into a suit of impenetrable nanocore armor, including the iconic Mega Buster arm cannon and helmet. Beloved characters, like Rush, will return - while new characters, like Mega Mini™, will make their debut! The new Mega Man animated series has a target air date of 2017, coinciding with the franchise's 30th anniversary."

So.....Yeah. If there's anything that needs to be said about the series, I'd say feel free to talk it out. Do note that however you feel about the changes, formulate your reactions in a civil manner, please. The revealed art will be posted shortly, and I assume that whenever the actual series comes about you can talk about it here. I'm actually really interested in gathering the general reactions to the show here, if only because the revealed stuff so far has had interesting reactions elsewhere.

Well, I've seen this work well in other forums, so as part of our Forum Game Movement, I've decided to create a "Corrupt-A-Wish" thread here. The premise is relatively simple, someone posts a wish of theirs, and the following poster will grant and corrupt that wish in the most creative way possible! That poster will then make the next wish, and thus continue the chain for example.

"Poster 1: I wish to become king!"
"Poster 2: Your wish is granted, but you're only king for a day before you're uprooted. Next, I wish for [insertwish.]"

Simple, right? It's basically a monkey-paw's style game! MMRPG rules still apply here, and obviously you can't respond to your own wish. Oh, and the goal isn't see how fast you can post and corrupt, moreso how creatively can you corrupt the previous person's wish. So, let the corrupting....Begin!

The first wish to start us off is; I want a million dollars!

Cut's Corner!
Cut's Corner!

Heya, folks! You probably know who I am, so I'll save the introductions for another time!

Anyway, you might be wondering about whatever it seems like I'm trying to advertise here. Now, my philosophy is that if your content is good, people will find their way to it....But I'm going to completely disregard that to advertise the latest project I've been working on! And as you might figure from the title, it IS a webcomic, and yes, it is named "Cut's Corner!"

So, after some general reception I've gotten, it seems my little webcomic isn't the worst thing in the world. I'm not going to claim it's some sort of masterpiece, or that it's going to blow your mind and make you reevaluate the entirety of the Mega Man canon; Because it isn't. It's purpose is to give someone some enjoyment, and try to make someone laugh. That's all there is to it. That being said, I hope you enjoy it. That was my goal ever since I started.

Now, how about Boss stop being vague about his product and actually give you a quick synopsis? Basically, this show, as you might have figured, revolves around our favorite Cutter-core, Cut Man! Yaaaay! Cut Man!....Anybody? Yeah, perhaps not the most expected choice of a Robot Master, but MBM always likes to go for the unexpected! Besides, Cut's puns and his ego are certainly enjoyable to watch in a comic.
cut-manWhat'cha mean about that, Boss Man?! Are you really doubting me?cut-man
Errr, of course not, Cut Man! Let me get back to speaking though, please.
cut-manAlright, alright, just cut to the chase already....cut-man
Anyway, Cut Man's found himself in a quest far more beneficial than anything we've seen Mega Man do! Now, what do you figure? He's going to stop eight Wily robots rampaging across the world and fight for ever-lasting peace? Or perhaps he'll stop the WWW? Well, not quite. Cut Man's gone into the media with his own talk show, Cut's Corner!
cut-manWhich is totally awesome, by the way!cut-man
Yeah, what he said. However, what's a host without people to interview? Cut's going to try to interview every robot he can, and no matter the mishaps or hilarious humiliation he might sufffer, he will remain diligent, going ever strong with the cutting puns! Well, at least until they cancel his show.
cut-manThey will NOT cancel my show!cut-man
........
Sooo, that's pretty much the gist of it! I hope you're at least somewhat interested. Like I said, it's a comic for if you ever want a laugh. And I know I greatly enjoy any new readers to the site.
cut-manLike that MBM guy said, it's certainly be "knife" of you to check out my show!
Here, I'll leave a link to the comic "Cut's Corner", just for you!

Hello there, everyone! This thread that you’re seeing right here is known as The Official Community Rules and Guidelines, and the title says it all. We’ll be going over appropriate behavior in the Community, as well as clearing up a few things. So, without further adieu, pack your bags, buckle in your seatbelt! Please save your questions for the end of the ride, and please follow all the [soon-to-be] aforementioned rules. That’s how we keep this Community metaphorically clean, after all!

The Moderating Team
First off, you have to know the Moderating team! If these guys state you're creating an issue, it's best you decide to listen to that judgement! Cooperate with these mods and you'll be fine, they’ve all proven to do their jobs well!

Directory
As you can see, the community is divided into 7 categories:

Personal, News, General, Roleplay, Strategies, Mechanics, Development, and Bugs

mega-man- The Personal section includes your personal messages, sent and received. Don't pester a user and don't attack them either! Nobody appreciates that!

bass- The News section includes news by the developer, Adrian Marceau! You can also see threads here on how various contributors make their work. This is where you need to go if you want to catch up on recent events.

proto-man- The General section includes everything else, just user created threads for fun and enjoyment. Yes, you can put threads in this section, all by yourself. This section is for anything not relating to the other threads, and mostly everything here is for fun. Don't spam threads for silly purposes or no purpose, don't ask everyone what they're doing, don't announce your return here unless it's in Official Player Introductions or Goodbye/I'm back and don't be a jerk period. Also, don't make a thread on how do you do something in-game because the Strategies section is for that.

freeze-man- The Fanart and Fanfic Section section is specifically for user content regarding Prototype, from the likes of writing to showing off your artistic chops.

flash-man_alt- Play as your favorite robot masters (and maybe yourself) in the Roleplay section! Create your own threads for roleplay use or join one other's.

air-man- If you need a bit of help beating the game, or want to give advice to random users, check out the Strategies section of the community. This is where you go if you need help with the game.

dr-cossack- The Mechanics section includes updates on mechanics of the game, though not many updates are made here. This is where you go if you don't understand a certain mechanic. If it's a mechanic, it's probably there.

knight-man- The Development section is used for user ideas for the game. Suggest your ideas here and who knows? Perhaps your idea could be in-game. The Prototype depends very heavily on fan interaction and ideas, so if you're able to help make it grow, then by all means help.

hornet-man- Finally, the Bugs section includes bug reports. Please keep your general posts out of this one, no need to give Adrian false alarms. If you see something weird that shouldn't be there, put your reports here. Pictures and detailed explanations are very welcome here. Small bug reports should be posted here

shadow-man_alt2-While it's not technically a section of the community, the chat section has you on a live chat with other players. Meetings are held there every Sunday night (more details here, unless there's a hiatus in progress.

Community Rules
Next up, we have the Community rules! After all, how are you going to follow the rules if you don’t know ‘em, eh? It’s very simple, and if you’ve ever been on some sort of previous Community before, you’ll most likely know what to do. Heck, if you have a moral sense of right and wrong, you should’ve figured it out here, but might as well have our rules in paper, right?

#1: Please do not spam in the Community
You should know the difference between spamming and posting. Posting has a reason to be posted, and isn’t just general conversation. General conversation goes in the Chat, by the way. Second off, posting repeatedly in the same thread or posting the same thing in multiple threads is not the way to go. Please review your posts before you post them, and ask yourself if you’re spamming or not. Nobody likes spam, OK?

#2: Please keep proper posting etiquette in the Community
Everyone has a different sense of etiquette, but we’d like to ask you follow these specific things. Please, no disrespecting other users, that’s incredibly rude. No attacking of other users as well, that’s also rude. If your post is generally going to offend users in a way, you’d better rephrase your saying. Slight cursing can be excused, but we’d like to ask you to refrain from that if possible. Any heavy cursing isn’t allowed in the Community, and if you're going to take the effort to censor it, then rephrase it instead. Also, correct grammar is always appreciated around here! While we're not asking you to be an English major, don't speak in broken tongues. Also keep in note this is a primarily English-based Community, so please keep that in mind!

#3: No Multi-posting in the Community
Leave at least 24 hours between two consecutive posts in the same thread. If you need to add something, just edit your original comment. Otherwise, don’t double-post. Don’t get surprised if your comment is altered in some way by mods, as double-posting's really obnoxious.

#4: No pointless bumping on a thread in Community
If a thread has been inactive for some time, please don’t bring it back “just because” you felt like it. If you do, it’s either because you want to refrain from making the same thread about a topic, or you have a significant update or contribution for it. Otherwise, please don’t necropost.

#5: Speaking of, no pointless threads in the Community
Before you decide to make a new thread, think about if it’s necessary or not. If someone else is covering the same topic, post your thoughts in that thread. If it’s just a thread because you wanted to make one, you could either post it in another thread, or talk about it in the Chat. Pointless threads can flood the Community and cover other, bigger topics, so please think about the necessity of your thread before you post it.

#6: No flaming other users in the Community --Relates to keeping proper Community etiquette--
Debates are completely fine in the Community, as long as it’s kept civilized. However, if it’s resorted to swearing, name-calling, or just downright insulting other people, it’s gone too far. It really just falls into demonstrating the type of person you are, and while you don't have to be a saint don't be a downright jerk.

#7: Please respect and listen to the Mods/Admins
These guys were put up as mods for a reason, so respect the guys, won't you? They try their hardest each day to make the Community a fun place for YOU, so make their job a little easier, too. These guys know what they’re doing, ok?

#8: Please keep religious/political/sexual discussions out of the Community
These things just scream flame wars, so please don’t try to start a conversation about these things. Posts and/or threads that focus on these three topics can be expected to be deleted for the safety of everyone on the Community. That shouldn't need explaining.

#9: No inappropriate links/images
No posting of inappropriate links or images in a Community post. This is fairly obvious, so please use common sense when dealing with this rule. No links that conflict with #8 either. ROMS and Emulator links aren’t allowed in the Community either. These things just SCREAM legal trouble, and that’s something we want to avoid.

Disclaimer!: If you happen to need to post a link that contains cursing, please put a disclaimer or "NSFW" before.

=====================================================================

Some Miscellaneous tips on navigating the Community
Here are some misc tips on the Community! Please keep this in mind as you go along the Community!

>First things first, you'll need 5,000 battle points to post and 10,000 battle points to create a thread. You can get that much in about 5 minutes, so don't panic!
>If you want details on how to use some fancy text techniques, then click here to read an article on how to use these amazing formatting techniques.
>If you want the people of Community to meet you, introduce yourself on this thread! This is also the place you post in if you’ve come back from a long break. Please do not post a thread for any of this!
- Suggestions (put them here for game-related stuff and here for website-related stuff)
- HELP ME! stuff (put them here or here
- Spam
- Bugs (quick-manquick-man Quick! Put them here
- and finally, Chat stuff (you can chat here and rules you can look through here.
=====================================================================

Well, this is the Community Rules thread! Took us long enough, yes, but this is all common sense! This thread is mostly for the people who are new to the online community lifestyle, so if you’re already an experienced user on here, chances are you already know most of this! As always, this thread is subject to change and new rules as time passes and changes, so please keep that in mind! If you feel we missed anything, please post below! If that’s it, I’ll be heading off! See ya next time!

=====================================================================

[This section was written by Community Moderator Brorman, special thanks to him for this massive write-up! I owe you one!]

Hello! I'm going to give you a quick show-off of all the great formatting features, with explanations on how to use them!

The Basics

Everyone who has ever used any kind of word processing program knows about bolding, italics, and underlining. Some online forum users or more advanced WP program users might also know about striking!

How to use these simple, yet so amazing features?
Like the features themselves, it indeed is, very simple. Just do the following:

Depending on your effect of choice, choose the letter bold, italics, underline or strike, and type it inside square brackets, like this: [b]

Next, type something, like: [b]What a great guide there, Bror!

And then to finish the whole thing off, after the text, type in: [/b]

Result should look like this: What a great guide there, Bror!

You can also use multiple effects at once, just do the same as earlier, but type them like this [b][i][s][u]TEXT HERE[/b][/i][/s][/u] and so on...

Media and Colors

So, how do I link cool websites like MMRPG? Simple, like this: MMRPG

First off, type some more square brackets, like this: [insert your message here]
You don't have to put in a message, but if you want to have some fun or look really cool you should definitely do it.

After typing in the coolest message of human history, paste in your link of choice, of course you don't want to link anything harmful or shocking since other people have feelings as well. If you enjoy mischief, you hopefully also enjoy getting banned.

That's enough about linking. Next up we have images!

Images are really great, picture tells more than a thousand words they say, and this goes for making bug reports as well! When calling the exterminator (or in the case, sending bug reports to the programmer), remember to send them some definitive proof of those pesky bugs existing!

Just like earlier, square brackets is the way to go: [image]

You can change "image" to anything you want and it will appear as a mouse-over tooltip for the image. It's a great way to add a description or name to an image.

Next, upload a pic or find an existing one from wherever, remember to keep it safe though. No one wants to see anything unpleasant or shocking. So we were making a bug report, right? Well let's put the image link inside parentheses.

[image] (http://puu.sh/6lNAs.png)

That's all for images. At this point, I'd probably like to preview my post (wink wink) before sending it, just to see that everything is like it's supposed to be.

Well then, let's move on to the coloring part.

To make things more colorful, you need 2 things.

Square brackets, and a type.

This time, inside those square brackets, you'll type in the message, just like when linking stuff.

[It's great to know how colors work!]

Well, that guy doesn't really know how to use colors yet apparently. Let's try adding in some curly braces and types.

[It's great to know how colors work!] {explode}

It's great to know how colors work!

But how to create dual-type text? Simple, inside the same braces, add an underscore = _ and then add another flavor of your choice. Like this:

[It's great to know how colors work!] {explode_freeze}

It's great to know how colors work!

The list of types is the same as the list of Player Colors, found from the "Edit Profile" menu.

Yay! Now you have mastered the basics of formatting, there are some features that I don't know of because they aren't listed here... But I'll add more in as soon as I know.

Comment guidelines are pretty easy to follow - stay on topic, don't be rude, don't double-post when you can easily edit, and don't create 100 topics in a row just because it's fun. Oh, and no adult stuff or bad language. Ever. This is a kids' game, people! ;)

Official Chat Help and Guidelines

Click this to get to the Official Discord Channel for Mega Man RPG Prototype. Reminder that you'll need a Discord account to access the channel.

As you might have noticed, a shiny and spiffy new chat has shown up, and boy does it have some things that you’re going to need to get used to. Granted, good changes, but still changes to get used to. Thankfully for you, reader, BossMan is going to take you through a trip of chat-goodness! So, sit back, relax, and find out the wonders of this new Chat, with your host.

============================================================================================================

The Rules!

Hi there, and welcome to the MMRPG Discord Chatroom! We'd like to welcome you and hope you enjoy your stay, as long as you follow these few Chat rules. Naturally, if you fail to follow the guidelines we've set down, you will be eligible for warnings and/or complete removal from the Chat depending on the severity of the rule broken.

0. Read the rules!
1. Treat each other with mutual respect. Discriminatory or inflammatory language will not be tolerated. Cursing is tolerated to an extent, but not if used excessively or in harassment of your fellow users.
2. Keep topics to appropriate channels. Discussions can sway from time-to-time as is natural. But be mindful of which channel the discussion is in. If a staff member asks to move the discussion elsewhere, please do so. In particular, please keep your memes to #very-risque-memes.
3. This is a SFW-server. Borderline NSFW content, whether through the forms of discussion, links, or nicknames, will be cause for mod action. If you’re unsure, engage a @Moderator. Always err on the side of caution.
4. No spamming anything. Common sense.
5. While we do have a bot, it is only designated to be used in the #bot-channel. Please don't abuse it; it's not at all polite to mistreat it, after all.
6. Keep outside server drama outside. If you have beef with another user, keep it out of here. This is not the place for it.
7. Do not link to websites that relate to ROMs or other means of piracy. Discussion of concepts such as emulation are okay, but not directly discussing how to find them.
8. A staff member may decide that a topic is unsuitable for discussion and can intervene to redirect or end the conversation at their discretion. These will often include controversial topics, including but not limited to the religious, political, sexual, discriminatory, etc.
9. The staff here is meant to adhere to the same rules as the rest of the community. As such, if you, as a member here, feel that a Staff Member is acting unbecoming of their role, please reach out to another staff member to let us know. We are here for you to administer and moderate to ensure this is a good place for all members involved. Abuse of a position will not be tolerated.
10. Treat each other with mutual respect.

============================================================================================================
[These new rules are subject to change at any time, and even more new rules will be added as time goes on.]

Questions

My MMRPG account won't log me into the Chat?
That is indeed an astute observation! You will need an external account using the Discord website! Signing in is easy and simple, and relatively straightforward so you don't need to stress about complexity! Use this Discord guide to help assist you in creating a proper account, and then please click this link in order to actually create your account. You will need this to access the Discord chat!

Okay? What do I do next?
Click the invite link that's on the top of this page! Once you've done so, you'll notice that a page will pop up declaring that you've been invited; go ahead and proceed forward to join the MMRPG server!

And after that?
Get to chatting! Granted, keep in mind you should've read the rules by now so you don't make a bad first impression!

What if I've done all you said and I'm not able to join the Chatroom?
Please contact me in a personal message or in this thread to resolve the issue and hopefully fix whatever's causing you to not be able to join.

If you need further frame of reference, check out the previous chat help guide. It's not designed around the Discord chatroom, but there are a multitude of good points here.

"Practice makes perfect!"
Since people need a place to practice, I made this. There's no story here, just practice and learn how to RP. Surely, you will become the very best with practice. Roleplay's easy to learn, hard to master, and easy to do awfully.

Hello there, everyone! As you may or may not notice, I have a contest for all who are willing to enter!

I have finally decided to make my own Mega Man Comic, which I may or may not plan to release on Smackjeeves!(Most likely, I will). I've started work, and I'm working on the second issue currently. I'll get to what we need to do soon, but I guess I should explain WHAT this story's about. Note, this comic will NOT take any of my time away from here. I will still be here, as commonly as always. This comic will be worked on when I have free-time, so I can't exactly give an "Update schedule".

This story may seem a BIT off, but it's a humor story, even a mindless comedy and will develop as the comic matures. I might as well tell you some things I've planned!

dr-lightDr. Light's doing WHAT?!
Our story starts off with your usual Mega-City, enjoying their peace after the events of Mega Man 10. Everyone's certain Wily kicked the bucket, or just decided he was getting too old for dastardly deeds. However, one night, an explosion echoes through Mega-City! Mega Man, standing on his tower that he ALWAYS stands on, decides to head off to find this noice, although instead of teleporting, he decided that jumping off the tower and calling Rush would be faster. Unfortunately, Rush doesn't feel like coming to the rescue, so Mega Man-Ah well, you'll find out. Mega Man finally finds the site of the explosion, Light Labs. As it turns out, the explosion was Dr. Light's latest attempt on creating a Robot Master. Dr. Light reveals to his children, all of the original Light bots, that to survive these hard financial times(Because Light can't make any more money as a Robot creator), he'd have to auction off all of his Robot Masters currently there so that he can continue to pay for his work. Each of the Robot Masters are auctioned to jobs that weren't exactly their original purpose(AKA Cut Man as a school-teacher, Fire Man as a Garbage Man). However, as it turns out, Mega Man, our Blue Bomber, would have to work a little as well. And who he gets auctioned to may seem a little....Weird, even if there's a mutual feeling of hate between the employer and his employee. As this goes on, hilarious antics are due to enfold, including running gags and irony out the wa-zoo!

MEGABOSSMAN U LIED TO ME WHERE'Z THE CONTEST!
Ah-ha, let me finish, impatient reader! Here's the contest!

As you can see, I've worked out quite a few things! However, one problem remains!

dr-lightmega-manrollThe Contest you've been waiting for!! C.N.S.C!bassdiscodr-wily

......I can't think of a name.

So, as you can guess, the contest is "Who can think of a name befitting of this situation and comic?" Or in this case, Comic Name Suggestion Contest, or C.N.S.C for short.

So, please come up with any name you think is a title that fits this comic, and I will hand-pick a winner!

The winner of this contest will get an ENTIRE page of comic, crediting him/her for their help in deciding a title! So tell me, doesn't this sound like a great deal? Does this not sound like a prize fitting for a king?

So, suggest away!
[NOTE: If your title does not get picked, please don't complain.]

UPDATE: Any information that this thread contained has been severely updated and reworked into a new project of mine

To celebrate the new section, I'd like to make a thread for the popular "Insert character into Powered Up script". In case that was too vague, it's basically taking Powered Up's script and modifying it with your own custom character. Take this link as a template. Note it's not required to use the exact same lines, just try to make it similar. You don't need to make any scenes for this one, just use the old [robot:blank] template, maybe add some color, and make your own version of the chibi game! If you need any help, check the new formatting option. Check Btman's and TailsMK4's versions as an example, I'll post my shortly after.

(Hopefully, this will lead to a script of Powered Up 2 for everyone to make......)
