December 13th, 205X. The term "reploid" has become a new, recent buzzword being passed around through news sites all over the planet, the line between human and robot is *just* starting to grow a little less clear, and the newest video games console, the Nintendo Wii 2, has brought a wave of unbridled discourse that has left the online gaming community in shambles.
Standing in the third floor dining room of his mansion, a victorian-era monolith uncharacteristic of his profession, was the Dr. Marceau, a roboticist who just two months ago had his fifteen minutes of fame when he revealed his batch of Robot Masters to the world, all with a rudimentary form of free will that intimidated some more conservative members of his profession.
The table at the dining room could seat up to twenty people maybe even thirty, though not all seats were filled. Only roughly four to ten seats were filled, some with just the most interesting characters. Mostly other robots sat at the table, though perhaps a non-robot or two took a seat. Adrian was standing and seemed to refuse to sit down.
"Oh, you fools," Adrian sneered to himself. He leaned down and slipped on some sort of strange weapon onto my arm. "This isn't a dinner that I have invited all of you to, this is… An investors meeting!" Adrian stood back up once more and aimed the weapon slipped into his arm. He braced himself as it lit up…And it shot a burst of confetti!
"Okay, okay, so uh I know you all were expecting a dinner and nothing more, and I promise that there will be food here, but I have some very promising technology here and I still need some more funding to make it complete."
Adrian slipped the item off of his left hand. It had the appearance of a glove, going all the way back to elbow on Adrian's arm, and was such a pristine, white color. The glove had no fingers and a black, padded palm, and had quite a curious looking control panel on the top of it, consisting of just a few buttons, a few empty ports to insert something into and, interestingly enough, a solar panel.
"As advancements in robotics continue, the price of manufacturing will only exponentially rise. I predict that, by the 23rd century, it will be too expensive for anyone to program a Variable Weapons System into a robot! And that's where this thing comes in!"
"This is the Copy Arm, my proposal as a replacement of the Variable Weapons System! This lightweight glove has no true innate functionality, the true impressive tech is held in these cartridges!" Adrian popped out a small, plastic cartridge out of one of the ports in the Copy Arm, and started to pass it around the table. It was of a light grey color and had a sticker label on it which simply read "07 - Confetti Blast."
"I've produced about thirty or forty unique weapons for this thing so far, I think. Though the Copy Arm can only hold four of these funny little carts at a time, swapping out a weapon for another is just as easy as pressing the 'eject' button on this thing and slipping in another cart! If you're a robot with a Variable Weapons System, you'll really prefer this over the sole alternative, which is to let your creator rip you apart to manually insert or remove any weapon chips- it's a whole process! Best part about it all is that when any of your weapons run out of energy, they just need to take a while to recharge and they'll be ready to go again!" At an attempt to show off, Adrian slipped in another cart and hovered over that expensive looking peach flambé that sat in the center of the table, and a small flame came right out of his palm! Even after the dish lit up Adrian continued to emit the flame until it fizzled out. After waiting a few minutes, a distinctive click was heard, and a flame came out of the glove once more.
"Yeah, I know that this thing is already cool as hell, and you all probably want to give all of your money to fund this thing, but before you do that, make sure to check underneath your seats. For each of you, I have a Copy Arm and a cartridge for you to try out for yourself, and it's all for you to keep too!"
But before anyone could even look down to check underneath their seats, a loud crashing sound echoed through the floor. A charge shot blasted through the dining room door, and a mysterious robot jumped out of the smoke! They wrapped their arm around Adrian's neck and aimed their buster at the rest of the group.
"Good lord, not again," Adrian rolled his eyes, though he didn't seem to resist all that much. He just seemed to accept that it was all going downhill. The robot then aimed their buster to the ceiling and blasted a hole through it.
"God- I'm really getting kidnapped again. Try to find one of my robots, they should be able to deal with this situation!" Adrian yelled out as the robot jumped through the ceiling. That was officially the end of that dinner party.
Lmao uh yeah I'm starting Mystery Mansion 2 and uh, that's the premise! You were at that dinner party and you watched that freaky robot snatch Adrian and run off with him, left with nothing but one of Adrian's weird new Copy Arm devices, and a funny little ability to go along with it, and the only advice you're given by Adrian is to try to find one of the robots he built and see if they will help. It looks like you will have to do the unspeakable and look through every inch of Adrian's five-floor mansion and attempt to find him yourself
For those that did not participate in or do not remember the original thread, Mystery Mansion is a group based roleplay closely related to dnd, though with a unique gameplay system similar to that of turned based jrpgs. There is a huge emphasis on exploration and interacting with the mansion's many inhabitants, though there is a deep enough combat system for those who may be more interested in exploring that aspect. There is quite a bit to explain, but for those that were involved in the first Mystery Mansion, there isn't too much that's new so there isn't much to worry!!

First to explain is Sign-Ups! So in the first Mystery Mansion, I put a lot of restrictions onto what characters you could or could not play as but I won't be too restrictive. Of course, since the story takes place in 205X, it would not make the most sense if characters from the X series and beyond were to appear but honestly, if you can find a way to justify why Zero or your NetNavi oc would be present in the mansion then I would have no problem with them being present. I'm also fine with Classic characters being played as but for the sake of making it entertaining for me as well it would be nice if you put a unique spin on the character or inject them with your own headcanons for them. OCs are also always welcome, of course. Whether its your self insert, a Mega Man oc, or a character of yours you simply want to characterize more through this kind of roleplay. Only restriction is that I only want you to have one character in this game, and I'm pretty much firm on that (but if you have a unique idea that requires you to have multiple characters then tell me about it!)
So when you sign up, I want you to list your character and tell me a bit about them! Mystery Mansion does have quite a bit of a story element to it and a character that has little personality won't work out all that well. At the very least you can list likes, dislikes, some strong points and flaws of theirs, along with why they'd be at the mansion!

Then after that you have to tell me what Class you want them to have. Just like in the first thread there's three classes to choose from depending solely on what playstyle you want. The Wandering Class is for characters that will want to take full advantage of treasure hunting, exploration, and the like, the Sparring Class is for those that want to fully reap the rewards from combat, and aren't planning in going too deep into exploring the mansion, and can you guess what the Versatile Class is like? The starting stats for each class is as listed:

Versatile Class
HP: 30/30
Attack: 30
Charisma: 30
Thrifting: 30
Additionally, players of this class will be able to use their Copy Arm abilities 20% more than other players before they have to pause to recharge. The Copy Arm ability they start will be one that has equal functionality in and out of battle.

Wandering Class
HP: 20/20
Attack: 20
Charisma: 40
Thrifting: 40
Additionally, these players will receive 20% more Zenny in instances where zenny is gained (such as from battles, opening chests, competing errands, stuff like that), and the Copy Arm ability they start with will be one with functionality primarily out of battle.

Sparring Class
HP: 40/40
Attack: 40
Charisma: 20
Thrifting: 20
Additionally, these players will be able to sense what types the foes they are battling are weak to, and the Copy Arm ability they start with will be one that can primarily only be used in battle.

Don't know what these stats all mean? I'll explain them really quickly but I'll make sure not to ramble on too quickly. HP and Attack are self explanatory. A high Charisma stat means a player will recover more HP from food and other items that replenish HP, and a discount when shopping anywhere in the mansion. Fun fact, if a character is in a battle where they have a Charisma stat that is higher than the foe's max HP, they can talk the foe out of battle and still receive Zenny!
A high Thrifting stat means that a player will receive more zenny from battles. Players with a higher Thrifting can buy more and rarer items from shops, and will end up getting better items in general from chests. Those with a high Thrifting stat are very good with their money! These stats will naturally increase based on what the player does (getting hit increases HP, defeating foes will eventually raise Attack, collecting Zenny will raise Thrifting, etc) so the stats are extremely customizable! The class only really affects how your stats will be like at the beginning so there's no need to worry about being locked over anything when choosing a class!

And, as far as I know, that's all you need to know! Make sure to sign up your character correctly, and if you have any questions you can either ask me in this thread, pm me here, or message me on discord. I'd prefer if you message me here or on discord though, but it ultimately doesn't matter! I will wait until next week (December 21st) to start the roleplay, but if you want you can join once it starts! I just recommend joining and starting with everyone else though!

Participating in what is it 3 roleplays at once? I'll be fine
Dark Man 4, Wanderer

He's extremely strong and has power the world has never seen in a traditional Robot Master, however her prefers to use his intelligence and his mad scientist look more, letting his other Dark Men friends do the main bulk of the work. Of course they aren't here so he's a bit worried.

Then if this is the case then...
Trio (earth rebuild),Sparring class.
An alternate version of Trio if he was rebuilt by Wily, but has his look similar to Dr.Light's rebuilding of Duo. Though he did loose his evil energy and memory after he was rebuilt though. His right claw could use some sharpening.

Mezzo
Aimless Prototype

Wandering Class

In a world where Dr. Albert Wily never invented the Double Gear system, his falling-out with Dr. Thomas Light happened much later, following the development of their first prototype robot. Major flaws in the robot's guidance system led to Wily (who designed the system) stealing plans from Dr. Light and creating several robots on his own.
Dr. Light, meanwhile, eventually discarded the model, using his general appearance as inspiration for Rock. However, the original prototype was later taken in by a mysterious, reclusive roboticist, using technology based on the similarly-abandoned Time Skimmer to bring it the 20XX we know. Using the advancements in technology since then, the roboticist was able to tweak the prototype's design, taking him in as their own, and giving him his current name.
Even with his guidance system improved, Mezzo can still be careless, and tends to solve problems in unconventional ways. He's also not the best at handling social situations, though this is something he's been working on gradually with the help of his current caretaker. The dinner party was intended to be Mezzo's first social outing by himself, and he was staring rather dumbfounded during most of the investors meeting, having little experience with even the old Variable Weapons System, let alone the new Copy Arm.

Hm... mabey if we give him some spikes on his helmet along with an X on his mouth rather than two lines... maybe it can be a bit better? The designs pretty nice, but he kind of looks like a Duo recolor if you squint Your eyes a bit...

This is Drive Man the Tank Engine, of the Versatile Class. A british unlicensed version of robot master Charge Man. He can often be seen riding behind trolleys. He also tends to work really well with children.

Despite being a nice, sometimes creepy, individual, Drive Man has no sense of privacy or personal space. Because of this, he has a tendency to burst through walls and doors without any hesitation and make people uncomfortable. Similarly, he also lacks a sense of restraint which leads to very violent moments on occasion.

He taps away at the dinner table. Impatient. Irate.

The affairs of man had long since meant nothing to him. He had long since seen it -- everything -- all before. The beginning. The end. Man and robotkind were destined to piddle away in the same eternal, endless, inane cycle of violence and reconstruction, of love and hate, ceaselessly telling this same play on the infinite stage of the cosmos. The cast was by definition different, but live long enough and it's really all obviously quite the same. Sons will repeat the sins of their fathers, who will one day become fathers with sons that will repeat the same sins, again and again in a world that will always ultimately refuse to end. So it goes. Even this dinner party, long enough has it been already, will happen over and over. In fact, somewhere deep inside him, perhaps from a memory long cast away, told him that this was probably already the case.

All that meant anything now was nothing. That is what he had seen out there, in the vast reaches where man was never meant to be -- nothing. He had seen the most wondrous beacons of warm light. Galaxies that spiraled endlessly in dance and song. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All exhibits, surrounded by sheer nothingness. Cold, indifferent nothing. Nothing surrounding nothing surrounding nothing surrounding nothing. And he, why he, to be chosen to be god's witness to all this. It was a mistake, or destiny, or greed, or passion, or nothing, that brought him to be lost in space. Years passed. Or months passed. Days passed. No time passed. He wasn't sure anymore. He only knew he was up there before, and was here now.

It's true that success had waited for him. But success was only a concern of man -- this was something he had cast aside when he had rejected himself. There was nothing to buy on Earth that would have ever eased his soul. Everything now was only just a dream in a sleep he would never wake up from. So with ennui left in his heart, he walked. He walked. He walked. Until he ended up here. Listening to ramble he could not care to understand. Tapping away at a dinner table. Impatient. Irate. Ay, woe and pity fall upon anyone who would know the name of ---

Woah holy crap did that dude totally just get kidnapped

“Good lord, not again,”

Okay this sudden outburst was unexpected, but it was just another momentary distraction that would ultimately be just another rub to occur as life would continue and continue on and --

The robot.... at least, he was fairly certain he was a "robot", had woken up not more than 20 minutes ago next to an imposing mansion. In those 20 minutes, dozens of thoughts and questions had been processed. What time was it? Why was he here? What was his purpose? Before he could figure out the answer, he noticed several other robots showing a letter of invitation to a nearby scanner to enter the mansion. Guided by instinct, the robot lifted his right hand and discovered a letter with a familiar design.

Why should he follow the others? He doesn't know who they are. They don't know who he is. Heck, he barely knows who he is. And yet, as if fate itself had forged a map of where he was needed, the robot believed that this mansion carried the secrets of why he had appeared.

And so, the robot got himself to his feet and walked up to the gate, letter in hand. Mimicking the motions of those that arrived before him, he scanned the letter to the nearby reader.

"Name?"

The reader's mechanical drone had presented the robot with a question. A question that Retrop barely had an inkling of how to answer... wait, "Retrop?" In the second it took the robot to ponder his identity, a 6 letter string had been outputted in his mind. This little sliver of information had confirmed the robot's suspicions. Whoever, wherever, and whenever he was, this mansion had something to do with Retrop's true purpose.

After giving his name, settling down at a fancy table, and witnessing the abduction of a rather annoyed inventor, Retrop followed the doctor's words and checked under the table. A perfect fit, Retrop thought to himself as he fitted the Copy Arm on his right arm. He marveled at the intricate design of the weapon. His processors beated in glee. The Copy Arm, just like this mansion, had a strong connection to why he found himself awake here. Rescuing the doctor became secondary. The secrets of the mansion and the experiment on his arm? Retrop knew that these were the keys to the treasure chest of his past.

proto-man_electric The answers to my purpose are here... Let us begin.

Surprised by the giant's question, Retrop panicked a little. Should he reveal his lacking hand to the interrogator? No, it would be better to prevent his peers from gaining suspicion. It would be best to bluff with the information he had.

proto-man_electric Who am I? I'm Retrop. Like the rest of you, I was invited to this mansion by the brilliant Dr. Marceau.

proto-man_electric I suppose we'll be working together to solve our current predicament, as the good doctor has been kidnapped, and we've conveniently been given this experimental weaponry to rescue him.

Retrop, hoping to present himself as a confident, reliable asset to his fellow teammates, decided to try and rally up the purple titan.

proto-man_electric Of course, if you wish to back out of this potentially dangerous mission, I won't stop you~

Retrop made certain to emphasize the last part of that sentence with a tone of teasing. Hesitation meant weakness, and he didn't need to appear weak to his allies.

Big Bang Inc... "Trio" declared both his name and his company's name with an air of importance, as if those names were something a toddler would know. Indeed, reading the business card gave Retrop a feeling of familiarity, as if his past self had at least heard of them. And yet, the familiarity was refined into a feeling of unimportance, like an endangered species that had gone extinct. Whatever Retrop was sent here for, "Big Bang Inc." wasn't important to his mission. Still, the last thing Retrop needed was extra obstacles to the truth, so Retrop did his best to put on a polite greeting.

proto-man_electric It's good to meet you.

Retrop then absorbed the business card into his inventory... was he always able to do that? Retrop recalled finding a letter out of nowhere when he arrived outside the mansion. Storing small objects was an action that Retrop somehow knew how to unconsciously perform, like a human breathing in oxygen. Whatever it was, this odd ability wouldn't carry much and probably wouldn't have much use. The card would likely have to be discarded later to make space for this inventory.

My hometown of Mega City would look kind on the outside. But if you were to look deep enough... You’d find that it could quite possibly be nicknamed “Crime City”. And quite frankly, I could use a break from solving crimes from time to time. A break from mysteries. ...How unfortunate that I stumbled upon one in the midst of my search for a vacation.

It all started when my partner, MegaBoy, came to me, telling me about a letter I received in the mail. It was an invitation, a dinner party by a Doctor “Adrian Marceau” in his Mansion. And, I will admit... After my most recent murder case, I’ve been hankering for a break... How little I knew.

When I arrived at the address, I didn’t know what to expect... Well, that isn’t entirely true. Because where I expected to find a Mansion... was nothing more than a vacant lot. At first, I thought that my GPS systems were off somehow... And then, the next thing I knew, I passed out. When I came to, the mansion was right before my eyes... And the burning sensation I felt in said eyes from the sudden vibracy of the world around me gave me the impression that I wasn’t even in my own.

After having adjusted to the sight of... My mind is telling me that they are called “colors”... I decided that there was more to this “Adrian’s Mansion” than I had first thought...
