Are you digging the Prototype players? Have any of you unearthed something exciting recently? I hope you aren't too shielded in your responses... I'll stop now.
Welcome to the second update of 2021! Did you miss me? I doubt it, considering just how fast this update has come out since the last one! We've got some good stuff here tonight, including an addition to something that I can't remember when it was updated last.
New Mecha: The Shield Attacker
It seems like these guys are around in every Mega Man game, ready to hurtle themselves at you at blistering speed, so it's about time they made their way into the Prototype! They say the best offense is a good defense. Or was it that the best picket fence is nonsense? Either way, the Shield Attacker isn't afraid to put that shield of theirs to use! They will actually use their defense for damage calculation rather than their attack.
The Shield Attacker is, to the surprise of no one, a shield core. This means you can now get shield shards. Why is this relevant? Because this means you can once again collect every single existant item in the game! Now, if you are a BP collector and just groaned at this, don't worry. The BP formula has been updated so that you now just need one copy of an item to earn BP for it, and owning more than one gives no boost.
If you're excited to get your hands on these shield shards, might I suggest using a recently updated ability?
Copy Soul is now capable of stealing the core energy of mechas! However, you're only gonna get a shard instead of a whole core, and don't expect the core shield to last for too long.
However, if you're feeling lazy and are looking for a more passive way to get cores and shards, I'd suggest you take a look at...
New Skills
You ever wonder why they felt the need to give robots that just dig intelligence? Drill Man navigates around dangerous pipes, so he probably needed advanced navigation systems. As for Ground Man... maybe he needs it for the ruins he excavates? Is he just a robotic Indiana Jones? I need to jot this down for his bio. Anyway, let's get to the goods! Hopefully they aren't diamonds in the rough... sorry, I said I'd stop.
Ground Man isn't afraid to get his hands dirty, digging deep to find screws or a consumable item. Granted, he can only do it if he has an inventory to put it into, and the enemy doesn't have that, so you won't get to see it in action yet. Hey, it just helps build anticipation, right?
Now, I ain't saying Drill Man's a Gold Digger... cause he's really a core digger! Once every so often, Drill Man will burrow into the Earth and find a screw, a shard, or a core. He can still hold an item while doing this, because whatever he unearths gets placed directly into your inventory. Handy!
Notice how Drill Man dug up an Explode Core there and how Explode had a field multiplier greater than one? That wasn't a coincidence; Gold Digger will find cores and shards only if their field multiplier is at least 1.1. If you're playing a field with no elemental field multipliers, well, I hope you like bolts. Additionally, the higher level your robot is, the better quality loot you'll find.
I've been able to keep a pretty good flow in this update post with some really nice segues... and that stops here.
Formatting
Forum posters rejoice, the ability to preview your post or thread has now been added! Look at me! I'm testing the show formatting guide right now! I'm, like, psychic.
Well, that's all we've got now. Hope you're ready to crack some shields and excavate some treasure! If you find anything good, you've gotta give me 75% of the profit though, 'cause I'm the one that notified you it was time to dig.
Don't say I never did anything for you, Tobyjo-
Wait. Do you hear that? It sounds like...
AN INVASION!
Stardroid Sprites
Those madlads Rhythm and MegaBossMan have brought some hot, funky, sexy, cute, cool, crazy, other positive adjective, wonderful sprites for the Mega Man stardroids! It seems it's only a warning though, cause they haven't brought their leader yet, and you can't actually find them in the Prototype. Expect to see them all around the forums though!
Anyway, back to my original joke, don't say I never did anything for you, Tobyjoey

@Rhythm : F YES. HELL YES. HELL FING YES. (EDIT:) RIP Freeze Type Mercury. You will always be in our hearts. ...Seriously though, Water and Impact have become overused stardroid types now. Can we vote to change Mercury back, and if not, can we PLEASE make Saturn a Shadow/Time type? There's no reason he should be able to use stuff like Knight Crush or Pile Driver, when he can CLEARLY stop time in V.
That's right Ja- I mean HighTower. Blizzard Man DID get a new skill! I hope you lot of hosers are ready to hit the slopes!
Blizzard Man's Expert Skier
It's finally Blizzard Man's time to shine! He doesn't even the arctic tundra to show off his master skiing skills. If the Freeze multiplier is at all above 1.0, Blizzard Man'sspeed will raise by one stage between turns! Even a light frost is enough to get this robot rolling!
If you're looking for an excuse to see this in action, might I suggest trying out the new Challenge Mode mission?
In Slip Sliding Away,Blizzard Man and his goons are ready to dominate the slopes! You're gonna have to be surefooted to give Blizzard Man a run for his money, else risk slipping up!
Now, that's not all we've got in the update! It's almost always the robot masters who get their spritesheets updated in these updates. Now, it's the mechas' time to shine! The mechas Flea,Tackle Fire, and Pierrobot are rocking beautiful new looks!
New Mecha Sprites
Be sure to try using Mecha Support to see these beauts in action! Many thanks to MegaBossMan, Brash Buster, and NintendoPanda101 for their continuous efforts to make the Prototype look great!
On a final note, the bio rewrite project has made it's way to King's Militia, so if you have fifteen minutes to kill, give Dynamo Man's and Cold Man's bios a read!
That's all we've got for this update post! We're now 1/6 of the way through 2021, and 7/60 through the 2020s as a decade! I hope you all are staying safe, healthy, and warm, unless you're somewhere hot, in which case I hope you are staying, safe, healthy, and cool!

@Pokeepoo : it was always like this, it's better to check the number of playable robots (that being the first pair of numbers, ex: Playable Robots/Robot's with Sprites/Total Robots)
